As the water gets colder, it’s all about the Camaraderie.

June 23, 201621

Camaraderie is a spirit of good friendship and loyalty among members of a group.

Yep that about sums it up ! the loyal band of winter swimmers.

Mr McCaffeine  & I walked around to half way just swapping friendly banter and enjoying the morning sun, we even got told off by some random  “are guys ever going in or are you going to talk all day !”

Just can’t get enough of this guy, I just love our one on one chats.

Zany Lainey Loo hasn’t had a cake stall or a while ! !.

On Sunday Karen Sander and Lainey Loo are skydiving from 15,000 feet with Margaret-Anne Hayes who at 76 will be the oldest lady to have jumped from such a height! We are raising funds for Can Too/Cure Cancer and The Kolling Institute. Please bring some money for a slice or cake and if you could bring something edible to sell it would be much appreciated! Or you can donate by clicking this link https://www.cantoo.org.au/fundraisers/JumpintoJuneJumpintoLife1971

Henry is all smiles after the morning tonic of a swim.

Kerry loved her swim, but is about to find out that all the tables

for the block Buster Trivia night are sold out 🙁

One swimmer one, & one not today swimmer.

Sheena & Izzy soaking up the sun rays.

If you think its cold here (17.5 degrees), spare a thought for Julie Isbill about to swim the English Chanel.

Currently 13 degrees & not a wet suit insight.

Julie’s Story

I am currently a final year medical student at University of Notre Dame, Fremantle, Western Australia and in order to spice up final year a little, in case it wasn’t spicy enough I have committed to attempt to swim the English Channel solo in my mid-year break.  The window that I have secured is 25th June – 3rd July 2016.

if you would like to donate to Julie campaign, funds to go to East Anglian Air Ambulance

Rainer just loves to watch men shower , He takes full advantage of Michael Stacey

and his great shower adaptor, anyone know where I can get one ??

Ted Tied Toes

Did Kerry see this before she started organising tables ???

Who’s hand ? ?

The very affable Derek is off to Maui with his son for a month,

His is meeting up with his brother & sister. What a great get together, his son has never met his uncle before.

We’ll miss you Derek.

More friends John & his gorgeous wife Jill with Bill & Jeff with a “J”.

The Lovely ladies table is looking a bit thin,  I’m told most are over in Bali.

The lads table is up to it usual fun doing the rabbits ears over each other.

HRH Pauline at Bluewater, right under the heater.

Gayle, Jim, Steve & Ian have just finished a great $10 Bluewater Brekky.

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

I like it when you smile, but I love it when I’m the reason

Have a great day ! Mine started out great !!!

Love you all ! !

Another fun blog ‘Shelly’. A great read at work, catching up with all the morning news. Getting nice and cold in the water. Vis improving at long last!

Always a treat reading your blog Shelly. And yes, i could have watched Michael for hours. Who wouldn’t.
Man it felt cold this morning! Winter swims have started in earnest now.

Ian and I did chat a little more intimately than was seemly but the love between two men is a wonderful thing. Between three men, that’s tacky !
I have swum in colder water than today’s 17C but my face was never in pain. I do have a big face and, to quote Jill, it was like an ice cream headache …..
I cannot fathom, maritime pun intended, how Jules will dip more than a big toe in the 10C Channel water, let alone swim for a long time.
(The shortest distance across the strait is from the South Foreland, 33.1 kilometres / 20.6 miles northeast of Dover in the county of Kent, England, to Cap Gris Nez, a cape near to Calais in the French département of Pas-de-Calais, France)
So at the very least its 3 Rottnest swims but with the notorious currents and tides could be 4 Rotties …… back to back in the busiest shipping lane in the world
On the plus side its too cold for the sissy Great White Sharks

You manage to pull off a great blog every time Shelly! You didn’t seem to have many photos at breakfast but somehow you write a funny, interesting and entertaining blog effortlessly!
Thanks for mention ing the cake stall on Saturday. Isn’t Julie Isbill amazing? She’ll do it and in a great time I’m sure.
The camaraderie is brilliant, especially yesterday after the nudie swim!

Yes, I know what you mean, at least I had a poor excuse for photographing him, not sure what I’ll say next time…
Michael asked me to stay just in case, he wasn’t quite sure what was happening, he has seen shower scenes go horribly wrong.
Old man winter is here & he’s not gunna let up.
    Love you all

Too kind Lainey, lots of mistakes, must be rusty.
I’m a bit worried about lips , but don’t let on, we’ll just have to keep an eye on him.

Thanks for stepping in Shelley, appreciate it.

Well Shelley, I was on a table until unceremoniously dumped because table of 8 shrunk to table for 6 – lucky I have a high self esteem! 😀👍🏽
Ps management may be on the hunt for a larger venue next year… Ka-Ching!

Oh Kerry, just turn up and another Litt’lun will share their chair and plate with you, especially if you’re dressed in pink! That’s how Jules gets to be swimming the Channel – never taking ‘no’ for an answer:-)) xxx

Love the blog and comraderie emphasis! It’s not the fish or the cold water I miss, but all the lovely smiles and good company:-)
Jules will rock it, but she’ll really need a lot of hugs when she finishes to keep warm! I can only stand max 10 mins swimming in the English channel without a wetsuit when I’m back in South England….and that’s when it’s the end of summer and warmer!

    Welcome back Shelly!!
I thought we had lost you.
When are we going to the movies again?
Kerry! What happened? I thought you were on our table but you dumped us?
    Come back….

Lovely fun, happy read Shelly. Great pics too. Very nice swim this morning even if it took a long time for feeling to return

Nah, haven’t lost me, I’m always up for some loving Shauny, especially those long cold nights.
You might have to sign into the “Shelly Channel” on Netflix soon.
    Hope I haven’t opened up a table wound 😉
    Love you all

I didn’t dump you DWSS – I stuck with original table offer – because that’s what good girls do – but then I got dumped because the table of 8 suddenly became 6. Fortunately, for all those enthralled with this gripping first world problem, (😂) I had purchased a single ticket so I’ll see you all at the bar 😉🍸
Little Sarah, would love it if you and Jonathon could sneak in – you’ll just have to do the job for us of flying the flag in England for Jules!
