Another super Saturday

12/05/20188

I was pretty sure that the forecast was for huge surf and lots of wind this weekend. To be honest I dragged myself out of bed for blogging duties. The  rain and wind outside meant the warm bed was terribly tempting to stay in but wow, once I arrived at manly I was glad.

Tomorrow is probably the day to avoid, but even on a charged up day in the surf, it’s great to have a splash around. We all know the weather man gets it wrong sometimes.

My view on arrival had no spectacular sunrise but the ocean was as flat as I’ve seen it . Numbers were noticeably low in attendance until the last minute before 7am almost! A sure sign autumn is about to become winter.

Got the 6.30 crew heading in and then I mingled with the few people who turned up early .

sisters swimming together- Celia and sarah .

Kit and Sadie helped dress each other for the swim

More hugs and help pre swim

Carol and barb were early in today

Someone chose the best way to rehab- often the buoyancy of the water allows recovery with less setbacks and reoccurrence of injury.

There was a mixture of plastic and fish washed up together today. Which brings me to the film blue- there’s a special screening June 20. Check out the swimmers private page on Facebook for information. Each person and each group can make a difference.

I chose to have a lazy swim to the bower break and back all by myself but was then joined by the long distance swimmers finishing off with a snorkel and bluey . He was inquisitive, friendly , beautiful and almost playful. First up was Daniel and I think Jane photobombing him brilliantly.

Fiona, ken and Bianca soon followed while Claire, Richard and others went to view the motorbike on the bottom of the bay.

Then there was a lot of pretending to be a fish!

Swarm of harmless jellies on the return route to manly

beautiful conditions today and people sighted the wobbegong and cuttlefish. I only saw bluey and local fish in the shallows.

On return to manly I bumped into Elizabeth Stewart starting her second lap. We saw a big milk container but just couldn’t reach it on the rocks. She messaged me later to say once she returned she was able to retrieve it. #takethreeforthesea

people’s smiles on their return say it all- it’s always worth getting out of bed for a swim

Last but not least, Martin reached the 1000km mark . Congratulations and sorry I missed the tunnel

Sorry in advance for all the photos , happy mother’s day for everyone tomorrow involved
