I left home in near darkness this morning, cursing myself for missing the opportunity to get shots of 6am starters yet again. On arrival at the gateway to the golden dawn my frustration was quickly replaced by awe and gratitude to be witnessing such beauty. And there was the sunrise too.
Here’s 2 photos to show that things are not always what they seem (just a bit of ‘armless fun folks)
These 2 lovely newbies were a bit apprehensive heading into their inaugural Great Crossing.
Hope you had a wonderful first swim ladies, and that we see you again many more times.
Some of the 6:30 starters
Meanwhile, no one has to tell the WOWs to look fabulous
The 7:30 immersion begins
Cameron with his Mum and Dad, lovely to see families swim together
Living proof that you can be a blog tart anywhere, any time
And now for a preview of the undersea visuals
At Shelley with some pro blog tarting on display, also celebrating a birthday (Tony) and a 1000 (Bernard)
On the way back with some our favourite fishy friends (thanks Lainey for pointing out the scorpion fish)
And the piece de resistance, the Tunnel of amazeballs – congrats again Bernard
And now… the stats
320 swimmers
6 newbies
19.5 degrees

Hi Rainier
I only had 2 25 second videos and no internet. Had to use my phone as a hotspot and it would have taken to long to upload to the blog.
