Morning all! Fewer people today, possibly being kept away by the dark clouds, intermittent rain and greatly reduced parking due to the Sun Run ending at Manly Beach.
The Cole Classic will be held tomorrow and I’m going to start with information about this today rather than putting it at the end of the blog.
Quite a few of us have volunteered to assist but the surf club is hoping some more people will put their hands up. Jim Stackpool is looking for people who would like to hand out medals to the event finishers. Ideally Jim would like people possessed of gravitas, a firm handshake and excellent social skills, but really he will take anyone. If you think you meet the brief please send your CV and references to Jim – jjs@scat.com.au. Nah, just email him and tell him you can do it.
More people are also needed for the bag drop area. It gets very busy before the start of the event. At this late stage if you can help it would be best to show up in the morning and ask for Simone Hill. If you want swim, starting after this would work.
And one more thing. Please don’t leave your swim stuff in the normal place, but leave it around the benches area. We will walk down the steps, not the ramp and will swim north tomorrow.
And now for the blog. Stunning light greeted us this morning – the stunning vista a lovely change from the brilliant sunny mornings we have had, much as we love summer.
Meanwhile, the regular activities continued – signing up newbies, catching up with friends and getting ready to swim
Management insisted on a photo of the blogger. Who am I to say no to JK?
There was a profusion of colourful cossies today
These two beauties returning from an early foray. If you look closely you may be able to see a rainbow in the background. It must be a portent, probably of more rain.
This crew was keen to be in the blog, and I am an obliging blogger.
This morning really was spectacular.
The rainbow again.
I caught up with this mob in the middle and just had to capture the contrast of the bright pink caps amongst all that grey. It was the first swim for the woman in the middle. Note the photobomber on the right who was not Gillian.

The replacement. I am very happy.

Monthly Dinner – 13th February 2018 – Guest Speakers
The first B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 13th February at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speakers on the night will be Dr Ezequiel “Ziggy” Marzinelli and Dr Adriana Verges from the Sydney Institute of Marine Science(SIMS). SIMS, in partnership with Dorset Sutton and Jenny Lim Sutton and the Manly community, propose to undertake Operation Crayweed Manly, a project to restore lost underwater forests in Manly, in particular a type of seaweed called Crayweed, which provides critical habitat for crayfish (Eastern Rock Lobster) and abalone. Ideally the restoration would take place in Cabbage Tree Bay, as an iconic and beloved place under the watchful gaze of a community of custodians who care and love this exceptional marine environment. However this will depend on gaining community support and approval from NSW Department of Primary Industries (Fisheries) due to Cabbage Tree Bay’s status as an Aquatic Reserve. The project team are keen to talk with the B&B community, as people who love and use Cabbage Tree Bay, to hear your thoughts and seek your support for this project.
The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.
Bob Hayter’s Funeral is in the Magnolia Chapel, Macquarie Park Cemetery & Crematorium at 11am on Wednesday, 7th February.

Wow some beautiful photos Anne! Love the Fan Bellied Leatherjacket too. Think there will be a lot of us volunteering tomorrow. Unfortunately the swim leg of the Aquathlon was cancelled today as high seas at Curl Curl. Luckily our corner was calm for a post run swim 😊

Thanks Anne those pics at the front of the blog were superb. A few of us who were nattering while doing the scenic route saw that there were two rainbows in the sky today at the same time – dont think I had ever seen that before!
