Good morning, Bold and Beautiful swimmers.
Today was my first proper Bold and Beautiful swim from Manly to Shelly in quite a while. The last real one I did was the Cole Classic, which made me realise just how long it’s been.
I have still been swimming, but mostly in the harbour netted areas. I’ve started calling that little spot the Leather Jacket Sanctuary because there are so many leatherjacket fish in there. A swimming friend (hi Jimmy) also suggested it could be called the Seahorse Hotel, which honestly feels just as fitting.

But today I thought, it’s time. Back to the Bold and Beautiful swim.
I swam with Simone, and from about halfway into Shelly we had a wobbegong cruising along with us for a while, which was pretty special.
The visibility was okay today, but my favourite part of the swim is always as you’re approaching the point – those rocky areas where the tiny fish gather everywhere. It honestly looks like an aquarium.
I took it really slowly today. I just wanted to ease my way back in and enjoy the feeling of being out there again.
Because for me, it’s never really about the pace or racing across the bay.
It’s about how I feel when I’m in the water… and how incredibly alive I feel when I get out.

It was just a really nice morning. Not only the swim, but afterwards Simone and I sat on the concrete ledge and talked about life for a while, feeling how enriched our hearts and souls were in that very moment.
It was a bit of a moody, overcast morning. But as I sit here now on the concrete ledge writing this blog, staring out to sea and up at the sky, I can see the bright silver lining on the clouds.
And I know the sunshine is about to break through.
It’s going to be a beautiful day.
💙 Deb x
