73 Bold & Beautiful swimmers.
This morning is one of those superb winter’s mornings with magical blue skies and clear calm seas.
The sunrise was like a layer of golden butter in an aqua blue ocean and sky sandwich…

Who would have thought Liz and Maryanne would have been so happy to be swimming for the second day in a row !!! Go you good things… why not make it three 🙂

A few swimmers are still enjoying the early pre-dawn lap and there are always people keen to continue on for a double lap after the regular swim if you want to join in your most welcome, you just meet at the point again on the way back. This morning there were 6, pretty good for a Monday.
It’s Leanne Martin’s (4th from left below) last swim with us this morning as she is moving back to New Zealand today 🙁 Come and visit us for a holiday again soon Leanne.
A phenomenal 441 people have swum at least once since winter began on 1st June !! Meaning all 441 swimmers are currently on target for their 2012 winter badge !! To qualify you only need to swim 20 times over a minimum of 7 different weeks and there’s still 60 days and 9 weeks (if you include this week) of winter left to go so… even if you haven’t swum yet it’s still not too late to start !! Complete all of your qualifying swims without a wetsuit and get your ‘winter without wetsuit’ badge too (badges cost $10 each). Check out the list of who’s who in the winter zoo here

What a beautiful morning’s swim!! The good news is it will be just as good tomorrow according to the predictions. No swell, sunny and high tide about 7.40am.
Water temperature at ~17c is pretty good and should stay at that. Offshore is about the same.
Paige, well done. A double lap without a wetsuit!! I’ll be around to bully you into it again tomorrow.

What a beautiful swim! It was just lovely even though on the dawn lap Graeme and friend disappeared into the sunrise and all I could see was the odd bubble in their wake. You guys must have had your secret rocket powers on this morning!
Have a nice week without me everybody: keep up scaring the jimblies away. xx

If you have not watched SBS last night, check this 48min documentary where they dissect a 4.5m great white and explain “how it all works”. Very fascinating!

Finally, a clear sunrise and flat conditions coincide again. Four frosty takers for the 0630 to Queenscliff were rewarded by the surprising sight of a mammoth eagle ray resting in the sand off the rocks at Queensie. It soon came to life and cruised out to sea, just beneath the 0701 sunrise. Visibility has improved considerably.

Water temp at the Maldives is up and down a bit. Can’t be sure if it’s 25c or 27c. Will have to go back in to confirm. Happy to see the water temp at Manly is a balmy 16.9c

I hope that temperature isn’t rotting your wetsuits!! That would be a real pity.

If the conditions are similar to today, a second lap sounds good. Might see you there,Paige.
