Only 140 swimmers turned up today and a lot of the regulars were notably absent. It was a calm, smooth swim with creamy water and a slightly subdued (or hungover) group. If you slept in, you missed another special swim… but we are expecting you all back tomorrow for the B&B 5th Birthday!!! I am guessing we’ll have around 350-400 swimmers tomorrow!

I thought after all my bragging about Thursdays being the best swimming morning, we might have rain today, but no…the sun struggled to get out at times and conditions were pretty much perfect…

Maybe a few of you were feeling like Toohey, too much food and booze…
Mary’s eloquent blogs capture the true swim without any unnatural posing…I prefer to cajole my swimmers in to jumping, smiling crazily and tarting. Drinky’s 6.30amers obliged…

Even caught some swimmers boxing for Boxing Day!

Look how calm and peaceful it is…

Brioney’s back!

Oh and the lovely ladies in their retro bathcaps!

Ian F was a bit quiet today. Too many jelly shots at John Kelly’s Xmas party no doubt.

As you cross the bay, the first bits of blue appear in the sky!

Shelly before most swimmers arrive…

A few heads have been cleared and it’s time to blog tart!(Jeff is getting a right pro!)

The water was ‘creamy’ today, (we like to say that rather than cloudy or murky), but if you swam over the white rocks by the yellow hut you could see beautiful diamond fish illuminated…

gorgeous old wives…

and I saw a grown up goat fish showing his pink bits!

This Wilfdeckericus is a fine looking specimen at 77 years old!

Had to get a photo of Ian running down with a towel for his wife Gail. What a man!

I missed the huge catfish and a flathead with it’s baby, seen by other swimmers but I got the jumping Queens at the end of the swim. Debbie is a fantastic running coach for Can Too (first on left) and she has had lots of practise at joy jumps!

Another ahhh…mazing swim!

Summer badge swims
Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back. However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader. Both swims kick off at 7am.
The next 10km swim is scheduled for 11 January depending on conditions.

Elaine! Selling ice-creams topless on St Tropez beach! Lesbubbles having an argument with Mick Jagger! I’m speechless!

Yes, great quiz! A little poetic licence by the Blogger’s imagination – ‘naked’ indeed, but what’s a little embellishment amongst friends for a good story:)
I was also shocked to see the buxom brunette was Lainey and good one, Lesbubbles! Lips – drug-trafficking indeed! And Mary, thought you had better taste than Mel….. fascinating all the same! Photo?
At least I got the recycled items correct! And I think Snorkles as the accountant was my second or third guess… so at least I did better than Drinks who got zero:-))

It was actually a nudist beach and we kept our bikinis on for 3 Summers but when all the other sellers accused us of being prudish we were forced to drop the tops. It was the 80’s…

Hey Lesbubbles, I drove Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts 10 years ago on the “Licks” tour. 3 weeks hanging around the back doors of concerts and the Four Seasons hotel at The Rocks. The Bouncers for the whole world tour were all from Chicago and we had to find hamburger takeaways after midnight. One of our guys was the backing group’s drug dealer 🙂 Shhhhhhhh

Ha, ha… looking f/w to Lesley’s Mick story…. as it happens, I have one too, going back to the 60’s – but no arguments or drug dealing that I recall!
I was a teenager at Chichester High School and a few of us would hang out in The Crypt , an underground coffee house nearby. Mick & Co would also pop in there from time to time – until Brian Jones was found dead at his house a mile down the road in ’69.

OK, tomorrow, last chance to do a leisurely bolder-shelly-crawl with me before I return in Feb. Snorkles is an ‘almost-definite’, so bound to be super fun if she staggers out of bed!
Meet 5.40, in the water 5.45. latest, so we have time to get to Shelly for the anniversary blog-tarting celebrations:-)

I won’t lie I’m nervous…..but I think I have to give it a go before we let LSA head on overseas again.
If I’m ever going to attempt this 6km malarkey I need to at least understand a 3km!
Helen (Duckie) laughed at me earlier when I said I needed to learn where to go!
If I didn’t have a 60km cycle ride and a big night out tomorrow….I’d be a definite, definite not just a maybe definite ….

Snorkles, forget about the cycle ride and big night out til after the swim and you’ll be super-energised! I have a very long day of travel ahead and still setting my alarm early…. one stroke at a time:)
