29/12/13 The last Sunday of 2013

29/12/201311

So here it is, that time after we’ve fed ourselves silly, drank way too much in the build up….and now waiting to see what 2014 has in store for us!

We’re getting some good numbers of new swimmers each day at the moment. To help us out, please try and bring your newbie down to sign in at 6:45am, so they can join everyone else in the water at 7am ….not 7:05 or 7:10am. This was the confusion after 7am this morning.
New people still signing in…..

Everyone else, off down the ramp and in the ocean.

Before we get properly into today’s swim, let’s look at some social B&B action from Saturday afternoon.Brendan hosted his annual event, opening his house up to friends and swimmers.

Sarah entertained with her extra long tongue?!

Then the dancing began.

No wonder Gareth wasn’t swimming this morning.

Toni Jackson decided to make over the men. Here’s Chris-err-Tina.

Gretal is looking hot!

Just scary!

Hostess Brenda turned up too.

But, despite the partying ….many of the B&B’ers rocked up in time for their morning ritual. Note the dark glasses, a staple fashion item on a Sunday morning.

Chris with a lot less hair!

Greg too!

Ros demonstrating how windy it is today.

Pre-swim stretch.

Corinne…..on a Sunday?!?!

Soon we’re shaking hands and passing the baton from the 6:30’ers

Drinky doing his best ‘magic hands’ impression.

Nick trying to work out which way to go …..50/50 choice Nick….bed or swim?

Finally, yesterday’s host arrives …..luckily all smiles and no dark glasses.

I joined Elizabeth ‘coaxing’ her daughter into the water at Half Way.

Next thing I knew, they were posing at Shelly beach after receiving a large round of applause from on lookers.

Posing doesn’t come naturally to B&B’s answer to the Jetstar Jump.

The trick to getting a good shot at Shelly beach, is to act quickly.

See? Hesitation causes blog tarts to be able to get themselves in the frame….

…and there we have it, another great photo, another blog tart point for Lips and Elaine.

Photo taking tip: make sure your subject is in the frame! Ahem!

Finally, a big thank you to Sarah (LSA) for accompanying me on my first Bolderdash….here’s a couple of pics from our swim on 27th of this month.
5:45am….

Sun and Sarah.

Finally at Queenscliff, and our first sighting of others…

Done and in time to join the 7am swimmers!

Everyone celebrating!

Bold and Beautiful Swim School – 11th January 2014

The next swim school is on January 11th – The cost is $30 and is limited to 15 people. During the 90 minute session Sarah Anne and Warren Evans will be covering how to swim with more efficiency, flow and speed! If the water is clear and calm enough they will film each person for feedback after the session via email.

If you would like to book in you should call or email Sarah Anne and you will be sent further information, including the date, time and payment details. Phone 0420 923 067or email info@pacificjules.com.au

B&B Attendance Login App

Come on folks – there are so many good reasons to use the B&B Login App. No queues, no need for glasses so you can find your name, and it is eco friendly. With the aim of becoming carbon neutral the B&B Login App reduces our paper consumption. Log your swim between 5am and 9am for the easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge.

To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started. Happy clicking.

Summer badge swims

Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back. However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader. Both swims kick off at 7am.

The next 10km swim is scheduled for 11 January depending on conditions.

Great, fun blog Snorkles. Loved the photos of Brendan’s party. Toni’s hair really suits Brendan! Well done on your Bolderdash and the photos of it are beautiful. Great to see kids swimming with their parents!

Great photos and blog. LSA is so generous with her swimming and leading new bolder dashers to Queenscliff and beyond. We are so lucky to have her and other generous swimmers in BB. Thank you! Also glad there was no sound recording of the ‘coaxing’ at Half Way today.

Yes Elizabeth, I thought we didn’t need the full unedited version ….although the gentle coaxing worked!

That’s from my part time role as a water policewoman at the Manly Inflatable race….golly that was a busy day arresting all the naughty folk on the high seas!

Great blog I like the photos from Brendan’s party! Nice to see I made it in it without swimming. See you all tomorrow!

Hmm.. 63 out of 241 ticked electronically. That’s an app penetration rate of 26.14%.
Good improvement but still shy of the 28% target I had in mind for today. Mind you, we had 29 newbies. So if you discount for those, we’re looking at normalised app penetration of 29.72%.
    Still, we can do better!
Alex, Anna, Bruce, Sparkles, Corinne.. disappointed!
    Great blog Snorks!

Rainer I read the blog you wrote yesterday. So funny! Sharon, I like the speech bubbles. I think I should start swimming more on Sundays.

Yes, the speech bubbles follow all the Sunday swimmers. It is the best day of the week!

Brendan strangely makes a very attractive blonde woman!! Who’d have known!?!
Agree Lips – I was most horrified to see so many of our long time regulars still TICKING!
I accosted Alex this morning with pen in hand and he assured me that he will start tomorrow as he was too hungover to ‘app on’
    😉
