31/12/2013 – ‘Tis New Year’s Eve

31/12/201320

A massive 313 swimmers swarmed around the beach front today.  Lots of family members and friends having a go on the last day of 2013.

The phrase, ‘it’s not rocket science’, did pop into my mind today as I watched Ranier and Simon taking control of the sign-in of new and old swimmers.  The efficiency of a Prof of Nuclear Medicine and a specialist IT product manager combined to have all 33 newbies fully inducted into the B&B in time for the 7am call.

There was precious little visible below the water due to lots of stirred up sand and green stuff in the water. Just these little guys off the point.

Long march to the sea;

The lone swimmers at the point;

The gathering at Shelly;

Silly stuff happening in the sand (I’m told it has something to do with the letters NYE);

Heading off for the return;

The post-swim migration to the tables – which now all seem to have their own name!!

And a big thank you to someone called Paul who today donated a camera to the B&B.

Have a wonderfully safe and happy New Year celebration.

Mary

PS: if you used the attendance login yesterday please log your swim again.  There was a technical hitch which resulted in the data being lost.  At the “add new swim” page, change the date manually to 30 December then hit “Save Swim Log”.

B&B Attendance Login

Come on folks – this is the most efficient way to capture your swims.  It’s a smart phone friendly website so no need to download, just mark it as a bookmark.  There are so many good reasons to use the B&B Login – like no queues, no need for glasses to find your name, and never missing the 7am call.

Log your swim between 5am and 9am for the easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge.  To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com).  He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.  Happy clicking.

Summer badge swims

Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back.  However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader.  Both swims kick off at 7am.

The next 10km swim is scheduled for 11 January depending on conditions.

    Great job, Mary-to-the-rescue! Very appreciative of your efforts and of all those who work so hard for the group. Thank you!
    Just had a look to see what all the fuss is about with the new daily attendance and see I still hold the record for the last 30 days, in spite of now having been out of Aus for the last 5 days!!
    85K – I wouldn’t have imagined it:-) If it had been the 30 days up to last Fri, it would have been over 90K:-)) As Lainey would say, shows anyone can do it with the help of such good friends!

    Daily attendance page is AMAZING! No other word for it. Congratulations Magnus. Extremely we’ll done. I don’t think any other swim group in the world would have the facility that we have! Check it out.

    Oh, incredible, I can click on last Friday and it shows it was 90K exactly in the previous 30 days. Very neat and tidy. Exactly 3K av p/d for my stay which happened to be that long!
    A very Happy & Healthy New Year with lots of swimming and good companionship to you all!
    A hike and a ‘baby’ ocean swim for us in the morning….
