17/1/14 – Hazy Summer Daze

17/01/20149

Another glorious Summer friday morning with a little haze behind, and in front of the eyes…

After 2 weeks of southerly swells and flat conditions, the North East swells are here for a few days just to spice things up for us.

It was a little more benign today… no disclaimer speeches needed from the management…

I don’t know – some people just have “it”

There was a little left over Jungle Fever from last night’s full moon – Reow ladies!

…and maybe a little confusion as well….lol Paul…

TOKYO — A volcanic eruption has raised a new island, according to earthquake experts and the Japanese coast guard.

Advisories from the coast guard and the Japan Meteorological Agency said the islet is about 660 feet in diameter. It is just off the coast of Nishinoshima, a small, uninhabited island in the Ogasawara chain, which is also known as the Bonin Islands.

These grey stones are pumice, formed by molten rock full of  air bubbles, which actually floats, and are likely pieces of the Pacific’s newest island.

(Not dessicated bits of labrador poop)

Anyway – quite fun getting in today..

Time for some play in the waves…

Lesley was all over the blog today..

This is not Lesley…

Something made me think of 70’s heavy metal band “Deep Purple” …

Wasn’t much to see underwater except this cute mummy ray… looking like she is about to make some baby rays…

Also seen ths week was the XXL turtle, which unfortunately has no nose.. poor thing..

And in Silky Watch – our reporter and expert sea life panellist Julia Baird sent in this sighting of our friend holding up the Manly Ferry while trying to get into Wharf Bar.

Managment refused her entry because she wasn’t wearing the right shoes…

Here’s Lesley (again!) and Attracta bringing it on home in the waves….

…and again… some people will do ANYTHING to get in the blog…..

Someone left their kit behind today – Please see Ian or make a search on Ebay to make a bid and get them back…

B&B Attendance Login

Come on folks – this is the most efficient way to capture your swims.  It’s a smart phone friendly website so no need to download, just mark it as a bookmark.  There are so many good reasons to use the B&B Login – like no queues, no need for glasses to find your name, and never missing the 7am call.
Log your swim between 5am and 9am for the easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge.  To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com).  He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.  Happy clicking.

Summer badge swims

Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back.  However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader.  Both swims kick off at 7am.

The silky dolphin “photo” if you click on it is actually a Utube clip.
