A stack of Drink’s Express swimmers this morning!
Rare sighting No 1: Snorkles here on a weekday!?!?!?
Rare sighting No 2: JP – but it’s probably coz it’s his birthday today! 🙂
Jane heading down…she still turns up most days despite her plantar fasciitis!
Speaking of Jane, her son in law, Al Del Bene, is a stand up comedian from LA – he will be doing his first gig on the 22nd February at Dee Why RSL as part of the Comedy Festival …loads of us are going and if you want to come you can buy your tickets here: http://www.deewhyrsl.com.au/Entertainment/ticketed.cfm
Let’s hope he does some embarrassing mother-in-law jokes! heehee

Girl on a board joined us!
If you look closely someone is hiding!!
Happy Birthday Mariah!
Ever wondered what you look like when water is splashed in your face? 😀

ooh nice one!
Elaine has spotted an eagle ray..he took off top speed when he saw her though! 😉
This little stingaree lost his tail 🙁 Maybe one of us stood on it???
Emily and Sabrina enjoying a nice apres swim moment …

Rare sighting No 3: so rare in fact not many of us saw them: A few dolphins were swimming inside Cabbage Tree Bay!! and most of us missed them! ;-(

Here’s another little plug for one of our long time, regular swimmers:
Jim Stackpool (below in pink circle) a regular with the 6:30am Drinks Express, is launching his latest book at the Manly Life Saving Club tomorrow Thursday 13th, evening 5:30pm for an hour. He’s filming it and would love a crowd of ‘charming’ B&B’ers (i.e. dress for book launch, not swim!) to come along. RSVP to Jim on jjs@scat.com.au if you’d like to come. He’s putting on the FREE drinks and finger food!
Another regular BnB swimmer Billy Derrin pictured below.. heehee…

Well he swam in Ireland a few months back – WINTER TIME! With the “The Skerries Frosties” – Skerries is just north of Dublin…They look like a great bunch of crazy fun people! Billy said seals swim with them all the time AND you can’t see them till they rub up against you! :-O
This is their Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Skerries-frosties/107239375988545
And they swim without wetsuits IN WINTER! I bet the water temp is around 5 degrees!
This is one of them in their Apres Swim attire! OMG!!

Bottom of blog
Latest news on the RedFeb is that it is all go for this Friday! The photographer and caps will be with us for the 7am swim, so if you can make it, be ready for what we do best – after swimming, socialising and taking breakfast that is – being photographed.

February is Heart Research Month, and we’re raising $1 for every kilometre we swim during the month.
We need to start kicking this along! The swimming is going ok, but a little more for the $$$$ would be great. Here’s the update…

B&B i-Log
Almost 50% of swimmers are now using the B&B i-Log. Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster: ugoboyo@gmail.com He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.
Summer badge swims
Every Saturday during summer there will be a 6km swim – usual route is to Freshwater and back; then once a month there is a 10km swim – this is to South Curl Curl and back. However, the final route depends on conditions that day so it is a good idea to arrive a little early to have a briefing from the designated swim leader. Both swims kick off at 7am.
The proposed date for the next 10km swim is this Saturday, 15 February depending on conditions. (This date will depend on final confirmation of local surf carnivals so keep checking the blog for updates).
Bolderdash during summertime
This daily swim to Queenscliff and back DEPARTS the surf club at 5.50am. As these are generally intimate groups, please WAIT for everyone in the water before heading off. Do buddy up with someone – great to be with someone who has the same pace – that way everyone is ‘accounted for’ at Queenscliff.
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.
STATS
143 Swimmers and 7 newbies!
water temp: 21.8 Degrees!
Over and out Lesbubbles.

Hey Lesley, what’s Jim’s book about? Great blog. Love the one of the girl on the surfboard and the sting ray hiding. Also JK and Mariah’s face is priceless. You gave me a good laugh this morning.

Hey Renae (thanks Lesley!) – good question re the book I’m launching. It’s about the financial advice. In particular the trends in financial advice post GFC, growing influence of the banks, huge growth in self-managed super blah, blah, blah and what everyday Australians should be aware of. There is NO expectation that B&B’ers should be coming to buy the book. I am filming the event for our websites and want as many friendly everyday Australians (i.e. B&Ber’s) there as possible with a bit of food and drink thrown in – would love to see you there if it suits…
