One of the reasons it’s such a beautiful place to swim is because of the all the people who look after Cabbage Tree Bay and if you’d love to help keep Shelly Beach / Cabbage Tree Bay clean well it’s “Clean up Australia day” this SUNDAY and there’s a cleaup site registered for Cabbage Tree Bay! You can just turn up on the day but bring some heavy duty gloves with you! 😀 OR click here to register: http://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/Cabbage+Tree+Bay
(To join another site elsewhere on the day: http://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/join/)
We’re heading into beautiful sunrise time of the year….
Ever wondered why it feels a lot harder swimming over to Shelly than swimming back? No it’s not because you’ve ‘warmed’ up it’s because the current ‘pulls away’ from Shelly making you work hard to get there but a bit of a breeze on the return journey! (Hence the reason Lips thinks he ‘beats’ me coming back!)
6.30 crew heading out to test the waters for us! Such a selfless fearless lot – each morning they go out and test the water for stingers, sharks and wave-swim ability to report back to us 7am’ers!

Even though the mornings are darker it’s still packed down here!!

Guess Who?

Happy Birthday Anita!!

I’ve never seen so many seagulls sitting there on the swim – I think they think the pumice is edible?!?!
Pumice city!!
How many Great Whites did you see John Kelly??

“cheese”
Trying to get an under wave shot! 🙂
Attracta going into the Pipe!
The weekend just past was the Rottnest Swim and a few Bnb’ers went over for it and also caught up with Jules and Michael and swum in their new swim group!

2014 Summer Badge Ceremony
If you are in Byron Bay on the 9th March you can see the Bold and Beautiful movie there as well as that is where it will DEBUT!! It’s called Dr Salt and here’s a link to details:
Heart Month
Only a few more days!!! February is Heart Research Month, and we’re raising $1 for every kilometre we swim during the month.
We need to start kicking this along! The swimming is going ok, but a little more for the $$$$ would be great. Here’s the update…

B&B i-Log
Almost 50% of swimmers are now using the B&B i-Log. Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster (ugoboyo@gmail.com). He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.
Bolderdash
This daily swim to Queenscliff and back DEPARTS the surf club at 5.50am. As these are generally intimate groups, please WAIT for everyone in the water before heading off. Do buddy up with someone – great to be with someone who has the same pace – that way everyone is ‘accounted for’ at Queenscliff.
Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

Ps. It’s 3 years on 22nd feb since my very first swim!! I still remember it … Meeting Julie and Michael and hoping I could be as fearless and happy as them one day!! And 3 years later here I am blogging and not so scared and heaps happier! I was absolutely terrified of stingers!
Michael was the best at putting me at ease over all my fears… He just didn’t buy into it … Just keep swimming and you’ll be fine he said… And he was right!! 😉

Always wondered where the beautiful in Bold and Beautiful originated!

I can’t remember when my first swim was – sometime before pics and apps and PCs and blogs and sign-in pages…. but do remember swimming out to the Point and thinking it was a really long swim and turning back exhausted!
Now, an early double seems like a relaxing dip after the 6K,10K and bolderdash season comes to an end:-) Thx to all those who keep me company…. today, big thanks to Chris T. for a beautiful swim. Heading through Pumice City on each leg was interesting:-)

B&B i-log is really simple, the other 50%! Btw, even if you make a mistake or change your mind about where you’e going, it’s easy to ‘un-do’ by clicking on ‘history’ and the swim ticked as I worked out yesterday when my bolder-shelly turned into a bolder-only!
Michael, that cap does not look pink!!
I think the hypothermia comes with the slinky looks – can’t win both ways!
And Jules, your ‘cafe’ definitely looks like it offers the best service and easily the best smile:-))

Thanks for a great blog again Lesbubbs and doing such a big bit to keep the B&B going (well especially the blog part). 3 years since Jules Mackin introduced me to the swim too although only 2 years regularly. Love the sunrises this time of year (and cuttlefish!)

Lesbubbles, are you saying the Shelly return swim is not a level playing field?

It gives you the impression of beating me as you try your hardest whilst I lay on my back and let the current bring me back 😀

It should also say in swimmer of the day … He has also never used the I-log to log his swim … He thinks its a waste of time .. ;-p

If he was on the I-log system, he could change the photo himself to something that resembles current reality.
