Can you believe that it is the end of Summer? As I write this wearing a fluffy jumper and socks, I reckon the weather has totally turned Autumnal.

While the festivities of Summer may be over, you know there is always something going on with this mob. Like the next Monthly Dinner which will be a Movie Night!! Don’t know if there will be a red carpet (maybe pink), but come and see Dr Salt. The story of a boy called Robbie who learns to ocean swim with the B&B – a totally fictional tale of course!! Supporting cast are the B&B swimmers. The movie was written and shot by Naomi Fryer late last year. As Robbie may book out all the seats, get in quick! Details below.
The sun chose not to make an appearance today, but still the early lappers were out in force.

These two had done a super early double at 5.30am, with one leading the way with a headlamp.

As ever, nothing stops the onward march of the B&B. Today 110 swimmers – including 7 newbies – gathered under the tree to prepare for the daily plunge.

The pink caps provide highlights of colour in the grey morning as we clown our way down to the sea.

And we are being ever so good these days and actually meeting at the point!!

Waiting for the call to set us off John instead calls ‘Dolphins’. We were treated to the sight of a pod of about eight beautiful dolphins making an arc around us from the beach out to the bower. A magic sight; sadly just out of camera range.

Today’s birthday boy is Bruce Baird. We give him a rousing birthday salute that totally filled the bay.

It was a bit too dull to go fish hunting, but nice to see the yellow tail on the way back.

. . .nothing like swimming with diamonds!

We may have turned our backs on Summer – but the fun of Winter is only a few months away!

It is also the final day of our RedFeb Challenge. Any donation you can make would be welcome. The funds are to support further research in heart disease and its prevention. Plus, you never know when you or someone close to you, might be the beneficiary of all that medical research. Just follow the link and Give to Heart Research
And good luck to the team doing the Coastrek today!! All the best for the 50 kms.

Have a great day.

Ha ha BILLY!! I was trying to follow your shining light but it disappeared! I assumed you’d been run over by a surf boat despite your special headgear!

Midge and I are sending in applications to be DDWs (Deputy Dolphin Whisperers). We swam with the pod on the way back from Queenscliff this morning. They joined us around North Steyne. It may have been my underwater coughing that called them up. (Those dolphin language lessons are working, DW!) Just about the time they left us is when we met back up with Nan who had been separated from us on the way out. I think the dolphins brought us back together!

Excellent blog to make up for missing a swim. And missing dolphins! Well done Sam on being swimmer of the day. A wise choice by the BB selectors.

Yes very exciting to see the dolphins! I was especially pleased for the newbies, as on my very first swim we had dolphins too! 😀
I think Jules was the ultimate Dolphin Whisperer because whenever there were dolphins nearby and Jules was there they would actually swim all around us – but since she left no such luck

Great blog, Mary – thx for doing an extra one!
Anne & Midge – lovely report of your bolderdash – a Grand Finale for sure:-)
Just went out with Jon to meet Elaine, Cathy, Kirsty & Renae on their trek. 4.45 leaving the surf club and all looking in great shape. Jill and Elaine’s parents also there, so it was fun. Understandably, they wanted to keep moving…. We didn’t see Elizabeth’s group – hope they’re doing well too. Actually, all the groups looked very cheery… Don’t try calling Elaine – her phone is dead!

Saw the coast-trekkers @ Queensie surf club. I agree Sara, they looked in great spirits. I didn’t have any refreshments for them, just a hug.
Safe journey girls.
