14/3/14 – B&B Tours – Now Leaving on Ramp One

14/03/201413

Good morning everyone and happy Friday again!

It’s a little hazy again this morning (some more than others…) and the water is a little churny – yep that’s a word I just made up.

The humid days are sticking with us and the swell has changed around to ENE and about 2.5 feet – it’s going to be like this for a few days, with a bit of swell over the weekend just to make it interesting!

Sort of quietish on the track this morning …

Some things however – are always kicking. Booty Camp was having a green day – run by Wu

Bruce and Konesy we having a cuddle while we admired Konsey’s ensemble.

She doesn’t like having her photo took – so she’s definitely making it in today

Jenny, Jalna and Jill discussed strategy…

Two Ladies.. (oh yes definitely two of those)

So we seem to have our first tour group. They were awesome. I think they had a great time. I had some pics of them but had a little bit of a camera fail

not creepy – just Ted….

The water is still warm at 22.2c and the morning light is beautiful…

The catfish are everywhere…

Bruce has lots more friends now that he’s thrown his breakfast account open…

The tour group were getting maximum value for money…

(thanks Stephen C)

and Jo and Emma got their picture taken with the boss – one for the pool room 🙂

Unfortunately for the tour group – with the northeaster came some sort of algal bloom – or a great big cloud of fish or plankton jizz.

It was brown in colour, and given my experiences of brown clouds in water ths week, I stayed the hell away from it too.. It was affecting vis a bit – oh well.

Jenny and Attracta were sick of swimming so they caught a wave in….

Underwater bits from earlier this week…

Our favourite little sea monster has been putting on a show.

This one is called – Red Dragon..

Fiddler on the Kelp

and this lovely little Eagle ray which was about 25 feet down on the bottom.

…as I swam next to him, the pressure in my sinuses equalised, which make a kind of squeaking noise and he took off –

Stats:

Swimmers: 183

Newbs: 11

Tour Groups: 1 (7 members)

Water: 22.2c

Sunrise: 6:53am

Sunset: 7:15pm

Have a great weekend! Nick D

It’s in the water Bill, not the coffee shop.

I don’t think the Cuttlefish has been seen around Manly Wine or the benches lately Bill..
You might actually have to get wet.

I sent the Blog with Elaine’s Squid and Cuttle pics to Mandy Reid (marine invert. expert at the OzMus) and this is her reply:
    “Jane –
Thanks so much. I really like your blog, I think the two squid were camouflaging against their background – one on the sand and one on the weed.
I am thinking maybe I should write a blog for the museum website about your group and the wonderful pictures you send us. Would that be OK?
    Cheers Mandy”
Needless to say I said we would love that! Have sent the news to Jules too.

Nick, you have surpassed even YOUR high standard with today’s pics. Mark and Mandy (see above) at the OzMus are raving about the marine life pics we send them. Keep it up, paparazzi!
Mark sent a link to the dead LJs on the beach:
“Diver Dave and I are talking about the same species of leatherjacket. His “chinaman leatherjacket” is one of the common names for the Ocean Jacket. I list the name in the alternative names list at http://australianmuseum.net.au/Ocean-Jacket-Nelusetta-ayraud.”
