Quotes from satisfied customers:
“A swim like that makes you know you’re alive” – Tim.
“I’ll definitely be back” – Tina.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
On Saturday 24 January and Sunday 25 January, our swim will commence at Shelly Beach at 7 am. This is necessary due to Surf Carnivals being held at Manly SLSC. Please do NOT leave your belongings at the surf club, as they will obstruct the running of the events.
AUSTRALIA DAY
As usual, Australia Day will be massive. We will be meeting back at the surf club as normal. Please try to arrive early and wait on the beach if possible to avoid congestion on the walkway. This year, we are encouraging everyone to wear our national colours/flags or other paraphernalia. It should be an impressive sight.
More importantly, we are using the occasion to raise money for our favourite charity, Royal Far West Children’s Home. We ask everyone to bring along a gold coin donation to say thank you to RFW, who manage all of our merchandise for us. If you are planning to bring new swimmers along, can you please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to get them registered. Make sure they bring a gold coin as well.
Summer Swims
The next 10km swim is scheduled for Saturday 14 February, 2015.
The 6km and 10km swims both start with the normal swim at 7am.
Other happenings this morning:
A birdy was helped by the wonderful B&Bers looking out for injured wildlife:
There were a couple of brave newbies swimming this morning!
I discovered that treats appear on the walkway in wild windy wet weather:

Thanks for reading my first blog!
Anna Bananna.

Fantastic first blog Anna, I enjoyed the spa treatment today. The spa jets were turned up high and the water temp was perfect. See you in the spa tomorrow.

Welcome Anna … lovely review of spa package.
(Surprisingly, the water was crystal-clear under the breaking waves below entry ramp at 6.30)
Today I reckon I could have worn five tee shirts, and saved on washing powder bills 🙂

Well done Anna, a lovely first blog. Really enjoyed the rock n rolly ride to Shelly and back. The waves weren’t dumpers so not too scary. Although someone lost a flipper coming out😜Notice the Bold and Beautiful’s rescue of the turtle made The Manly Daily front page today!
You are so right Anna, our swim is the best spa package around!

All
Regarding the ‘Does anyone know what these are?’ in Sunday’s blog, there may be a possibility.
First off: relax. They are not alien craft here to study earth and there won’t be an invasion soon (at least based on this sighting).
I contacted Australian Museum staff via their web site (sorry Jane I was impatient) and they were very helpful. Mark came back with a likely suggestion: juvenile pennantfish (http://australianmuseum.net.au/Pennantfish-Alectis-ciliaris-Bloch-1787). It appears to be a party fish – they get to dress up.
It is a wonder what we get to see between Queenscliff and Shelly Beach.

I loved your blog… And the swim was pretty good today too, despite first impressions of the conditions to the contrary! I feel completely exfoliated.

Who is this Anna Bananna?? Not Swedish Anna or The Other Swedish Anna? 🙂
Great first blog anyway!

Thanks guys! I really enjoyed writing this one up 😀
Tina I hope you don’t mind I quoted you! Calmer waters and sun drenched Manly are even more spectacular, even though I loved the moody lighting of this morning.
Anna it sounds as though we are many in number at B&B. I’m Aussie if that helps distinguish between Swedes! 🙂
Enjoy your glowing skin and clean clothes everyone…

Average of 5 km per day over 30 days for Brendan. Incredible effort with full accolades to you B. You are setting the bar so high I doubt you will ever be toppled from top (long-distance) spot.
