15/03/2015 – Lost Sunday

15/03/201514

I don’t know what happened today but our usually reliable Sunday team of bloggers didn’t show so I am composing a lightning blog (for all of those closet writers who are a bit tentative about volunteering, don’t be hesitant, with Mary’s wonderful notes, it’s dead easy and it can be quick too….I reckon this one will take me about 10 minutes).

There were some interesting things happening today.  There appeared to be some interviews going on so when I quietly questioned about them, it appears that 2 young Ladies from Brazil are traveling the world making a documentary about the meaning of life or something and were filming and interviewing a few of our swimmers.  Here’s one below;

Now if you were to look at our manual blog, you will see that the badge ceremony happens next Sunday after the swim and Royal Far West (details on the manual blog below).  Book in now as it would be a shame to miss out on picking up your hard earned 6K and 10K badges.

A couple of curious happenings today, apparently somebody got quite upset about seeing a shark in the water.  I saw a reasonable sized dusky but it was nothing out of the ordinary.  Probably a first sighting for somebody….I remember my first sighting and it put a bit of a spurt on my swim, I must say.  Not anymore though…. are we getting a bit blasé ?  Surely not.

Another curious sight was these two who did the lets go at 7am today.  They both celebrated their 1,000K swim today, hence the dress up.  Congratulations boys.

Not sure how many swimmers there were today.  There were no 6am’ers, lots of 6.30am’ers and lots more 7am’ers.

See you in the water and don’t forget to START AT THE POINT, that’s the official point not your own personal one.

JK

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Well it is the ides of March so maybe the blogger has a pain in the rotunda that kept them from swimming?
    Well done JK to whip up a post.

    Congratulations to Bruce and Reg on so quickly reaching 1000km. Fantastic swimmers and gracious to swim at 7 am instead of earlier so we could all enjoy their great achievement.

    Well done Reg and Bruce on reaching such a significant milestone and being good sports in their celebratory regalia. Cangrats also to Howard on reaching his 500 km. Also some of our gang = very eloquent future movie stars in their pieces to camera for the Brazilian doco. Yay team

    Great shark shots Mauricio! JK, is it true what I heard, that you actually wrote this quality blog with a wetsuit on?

    You have had some nice sightings Mauricio. I never realised their tales were so big. Were those guys close to full size?

    Hi Mark, no just the usual juveniles we see in our swims, about 1m long. Maybe it’s the gopro’s wide angle which makes them look bigger! it is always nice to see them anyway
