Sat 4/4: A blogger has to do what a blogger has to do…

04/04/201510

I woke up with the beautiful sound of rain tapping the leaves and ferns in my garden, the smell of it filling my bedroom.  I love the rain, I’m snug and … I’ve got to get out of bed, drive in the rain and blog for B&B!  As I drive into Manly it is still pitch black.  Sunrise is forecast for 7.07am, although I doubt we will get a sunrise today.  With conditions currently representing the usual 6.30am darkness, I will add bleak, rain and wind to the description of the morning.

Okay so I’ll admit I wussed out of swimming (yes Alex and Dave, I really did) and will no doubt cop some flack for that ;-P   These 2 newbies did not – I doff my hat (or brim of my raincoat) to you two!

The huddle:

The changing of the Cabbage Tree Bay guard:

Is that a swarm of fish over there?

Yep, conditions were this good!

The price of freedom – like a snake shedding it’s skin?  Hmm…

Nearing the halfway steps I actually started to regret not having swum.  The water seemed to become calmer after The Point, and not just because I was as wet as if I had swum anyway!

At Shelly Beach it looked peaceful and I was a bit jealous of those in the water!  I few reports, however, told me that it was pretty choppy and hard going.  Perhaps B&B did their bit to lower sea levels today by swallowing as much water as they could:

Steve was glad he swam!

90 swimmers today!

Some caught a wave back into shore:

Well I had fun in the rain.  Did you?!

Happy Easter everyone.  When you eat your hollow chocolate eggs, remember the real reason why we enjoy a long weekend.

Sounds like a dose of swimmer’s guilt Anna. But it was a perfect morning for a sleep in 🙂

I can definitely sympathise with that statement, Mary. Hence the title of the blog!

What a trooper Anna Bananna! Thanks for braving the elements to blog. I can confirm your suspicions … it was nicer in the water than out this morning.

Thanks for blogging on such a morning. I enjoyed the swim today, it was fun doing battle with the elements and immensely cheering to see so many friendly faces all eager to tackle the conditions. Go the loons!

Just turning up on such a miserable morning to turn out a fantastic blog is commitment itself!

There should be a special badge for everyone who swam today. Darkest, wettest morning of the year!

your Dedication to duty is impressive. That’s dedication with a capital D!!
I had to do a morning surf club patrol otherwise would have been amongst the rain drops you photographed so well,
