28/4/15 Temperature “Cold outside & Warm Inside” (inside a wetsuit that is!)

28/04/20156

It was a chilly 10 degrees air temp at 7am today, a toasty 19.9 degrees in the water….and a luxurious 32-38 degrees (Internal “pee” temperature inside a certain newish local swimmer’s wetsuit – not making her but she was at Blue Water Cafe) today telling us all her little “secret”.

Some of us cope better with the cold than others. We have all sorts of tools to help with the cold, rashies, wetties, pee in wetties, hot water in milk bottles at the end of the swim, some wear extra facial & body hair or have a lovely body fat layer, we all wear caps, and the brave ones that like to “tough it out”. Who ever you are, what ever your method of dealing with the chilly air temperatures it was definitely worth it today. Such a beautiful morning.

We had 130 swimmers and 1 newbie with a lovely smile.

Great summary of this morning’s swim Jenny.
I particularly appreciate your efforts in reintroducing the long-lost art of toilet humour.

Agree with Nick Greiner’s love child, Lips, Great blog Jenny and toilet humor is always appreciated.
Great Shelley shots with no blog tarts.

One of last winter”s musings… Is a wetsuit like a tea cosy?
    After a swm – feeling chilly –
I sat down for a pee
Me thought – “this is astounding!
It’a hot as a cup of tea!!!
I never thought I’d give this bit of scattalogical verse an airing, but after reading this week’s blog intro…
Love the photos, especially the early morning sky – just one of the many things that make us go down to the sea again, and again and again to the not-so-lonely sea and the sky (with apologies to John Masefield).
