The Drinks Express turn around and give me a wave! Happy sunny Wednesday folks! I’m guessing there were 98 swimmers altogether today!
A beautiful sunrise at 6.32am… There’s a 13 degree chill in the air but fantastic to see the sun again after 2 weeks of cloud and rain.
Claire, Alison and Alex have already finished their early swim. Claire points to the sun!
This is our swim spot today… calm, warm water and that glorious sunshine beaming down on us.
It’s 7am and the Drinks Express cross over with the 7amers. Annie and Helen share a hug.

John Hiron is back. He’s a ‘Fair Weather Swimmer’…
A shy Sparkles and not so shy Stace (Mike).
And Gareth is alive and well and back from Nepal! He had a few of us worried for a while but he was white water rafting in Northern Nepal and oblivious to what was going on in other parts.

Water hasn’t quite cleared up yet after the storms but it was great seeing these Dusky Whalers today quite close to Shelly too!
Here is Patrick swimming with his daughter today.
It wasn’t quite so beautiful at the weekend! As the photos below show there is nothing wussy about going from Halfway! Sheena still looks happy though.

On Saturday Elizabeth Stewart and Alan Thomson reached 1000 kms of swimming on the Pacific Challenge. Elizabeth is a particularly determined and brave swimmer. She swims slow and steady without fins or wetsuit so to achieve 1000kms she would have spent twice as long in the water as some of the faster swimmers!

Alan also reaches 1000 kms. Well done Al!
and Paul Hardcastle got up to 500kms!

You never know who you are going to meet when you are having coffee at The Benches. Yesterday a few of us got talking to lovely Ziva from Slovenia. She is promoting a new type of stand up paddle board which is unique. It is self-inflating so can be carried in a back pack. What’s more it has a little motor which fits on to it to make you go faster and further! They are available to buy now at a great rate. click here

Guess the swimmers below giving it a go! Ziva will give anyone who would like a free go. Catch her at The Benches post swim!

The sunshine is going to stay for the next week so come and swim folks whilst the water temp is still 19 degrees!
love and hugs
Lainey aka Elaine
Special Event – Guest Speaker!
The next B&B monthly dinner will be on Tuesday 12th May at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker for the night will be one of our own swimmers, Merrilee Linegar, who is a qualified nutritionist and herbalist. Merrilee will discuss how to strengthen your immune system naturally with immune-boosting foods, teas and nutritional supplements. With winter is fast approaching, and with it the potential for flu and colds, this is a talk you don’t want to miss.
The cost of the dinner is only $25 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) and a little thank you for the staff. Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please BOOK HERE NOW.

About halfway to Queenscliff at 6.45, We got buzzed for a solid eight minutes by a helicopter directly overhead. (And Gaetan’s crew this morning were still talking-up their Saturday sighting of a “real shark” out this way.)
But then Ted decides to lay back – and expose himself. The chopper flew away. I guess we musta looked like a couple of cockheads

Maybe the chopper was trying to protect you from a shark that it could see near you?? I.e. scare it off?? I would be thanking them rather than show it Ted’s tentacles!

YEEWWW!!
I need to get out of bed early in the mornings more often! 🙂 Such a nice bunch of people, it’s good to be surrounded with happy smiley faces!
Lainey, well done. Nice blog =)) Also, thank you for mentioning SIPA boards.
Woody – I love your book, lemme know once they are actually published…
For all of the rest of you, can’t wait to meet more of you.
Anyone who’d like to know more about SIPA head to our KICKSTARTER campaign (It only goes on for 8 more days!!!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1529801280/worlds-first-self-inflating-electric-powered-sup-b
(Kickstarter is a web page designed for start up businesses to establish themselves. We reached our goal but I know we’re capable of much more than that! Specially now when Sipa finally got to australia. )
I’ve studied Sports science and have written thesis on SUP for healthy and active lifestyle. I know how good SUP is for all of us and I know how much more enjoyable SIPA SUPing is… (Winds, currents, …) not because i’m a part of it, but trully – it is my passion to see people happy
Families, Yachting clubs, Greynomads, and on and on and on…
We’re running out of time (8 days to go, till our campaign is over (during campaign SIPA boards are available for “early bird” price!)
my neighbour from my home town contacted me with the idea of SIPA not long ago… I have to admit: I think my dreams are turning out to be a reality (After some pretty shitty things happened to me here in Manly… won’t ruin my positive post with those ones ;)). If any of you can help me out with spreading the word about SIPA, I have media release ready to go. With testimonials of SUP instructors (all super stoked!)
If I would be able to get into any saturday paper…
WAW…
My smile will be even bigger than it already is!
uZIVAjte!!!
(enjoy in sLOVEnian)
And thank you in advance for all of your help and support
If anyone wants to have a go on SIPA contact me on 0449008911 and we’ll try to organise something or contact me through ziva@sipaboards.com
Cheers
