Great to see the boys after the 6:30am hit out. Still no Drinksy (he is surfing in some exotic location). I have no idea how they know what to do without his courageous leadership!
Saint Vinnie and Irishman Alex were pumped for a big hit out on the way back…
Well to the race… sparkling conditions, lots of pre-race chatter… and we were off! Irishman Alex and myself eyeballed each other the whole way across the bay. Every move countered and counter, countered… past half way, no one giving an inch! And to the rocks… finally I pull ahead by bringing in the legs and lifting the stroke rate. Victory is assured… I start preparing my speech… around barnacle rock and oh crap… here come Irishman Alex flying back up to level pegging… eyeballing once again… and then he pulls ahead, stands up and throws the arms up for the win! Well done mate!
It is my beautiful wife Victoria’s birthday today. Love you babe! Wonderful mum to Hope and Luca, best friend and lover to me! What a girl…

I forgot to add yesterday (Thurs) that the double swim was amazing. Lap four was silky velvet smooth. For a while there was no breeze and the sun appeared to melt the water into a flat sheet of oil. I started to think turning right towards the sun and heading east was a good way to go. NZ is the next suburb just over the horizon – but I needed to be back by 9.30 am to avoid another parking fine! Instead, I turned left, damn. When coming home around the point, we saw a big cuttle fish.
The yacht anchored there was a different one, from Pittwater / Scotland Island, not a Tardis
