As you swim back from Shelly Beach under an amazing sky, high on endorphins… do you ever start singing a song to yourself? I do, and I know I’m not the only one! Brian told us yesterday it was a Joni Mitchell song for him. I often sing along to Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’. I even start changing the lyrics to suit our swim!
I see seagrass green and luderick grey
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world…
I could go on but…I won’t

Here are the happy ‘Hard Corers’ who left home in the rain today but enjoyed flat, calm conditions with great water clarity!
6amer swimmers reported beautiful phosphoresence on top of the water this morning. There was even talk of a dolphin…

Sarah is always ecstatic after her 6.30am swim as she crosses with the 7amers. Here she hugs Ian who clocked up 1000 kms over the weekend!
John Kelly would be proud. Quite a tidy group at The Point today.
Swimming with mullet!
Nick is joined by his wife Trish today for the first time!
It was Ian’s birthday but no management around to organise the ‘Let’s Go’ so he was left on his own waiting for the ‘Happy Birthday’ chorus. Luckily a few of us stayed to serenade him!
Marco, Nick and Matt with a magnificent photo bomb behind! Matt Hayes is becoming quite a Blog Tart. He’s trying to match his son Alex who made a video of being circled on a surf board by a Great White Shark which went viral but was fake! Good on ya Alex!
I come across Henry and Henrietta out in the middle. (Don’t worry Richard I made them get that close together 😉

Gemma and Fiona try to drown Ian on his birthday!

The 2 ladies near the heater have come to swim with us from Mount Martha in Victoria. They swim in 11 degrees without a wettie!

Gayle has gone to work and Ian smooches up to the heater whilst Ted looks on…
I asked a few swimmers what the song was that they sang along too…
Good Vibrations Lyndall
Happy Sophie
Dancing Queen Belinda
I Started a Joke Dorset
Oh What a Beautiful Morning Henrietta
Smoke in the Water Midge
Staying Alive Ian Nicholls!
Jaws theme Shaun
What is your song??
To make blogging easier and less stressful I preload some of my favourite moments of the past fortnight the day before I blog. Hope you like them.
The beautiful white wobbegong a few of us saw yesterday off Shelly.

Sarah Bursle and the cuttlefish last week

Isn’t Anna’s expression as she dives deep in her wetsuit SO cute?

The beautiful, mesmorising Giant Cuttlefish which has captivated so many of us lately.

A flash of blue…and It’s a Groper…

Our birthday boy, the wonderful blogger, Ian aka Shelly sidles in on Jane’s hot shower! (I’m so sorry if I’ve spoiled your image of ‘Shelly’ with the big boobs!)

The lovely Rankin family! Milly, John and Jill.

Still worth swimming on cloudy, rainy days!

Terry on the left and Mike and Louise on the right coming in from a Double.

The beautiful Sophie Coombes, (Marriage Celebrant extraordinaire) often finds it hard to come down with 3 young kids. But when she does she, like many more of you, she sprays her special sparkle around and puts smiles on many faces!

Sparkles! (Another sparkly person)

Wish Roz well when you see her. She is off to Europe for 6 months and will be walking The Comino Trail for 5 weeks! Quite a new ‘regular swimmer’ she is now addicted and will miss her B&B swims.

I took this on Monday as I ran around to Shelly to do a tag swim with Ted as we swapped over walking the dog!

Lucky enough to see Shelly the Turtle on Monday
My video of a cuttlefish click here
Talking of song lyrics when I did a bit of blog research yesterday I came across a beautiful song recorded by our very own Cathie Coleman called ‘Into the Blue’. Here it is here! click here
We all love Roger’s Friday blogs. His cartoons are amazing. Some of you may remember my poor attempt at ‘cartoons’ when I first started blogging 2 1/2 years ago. I thought I’d dig out one. recommending a different type of water temp indickator 😉

Wonderful blog Lainey! I have to say, I am rather relieved that Ian’s, aka “Shelly’s”, identity has finally been revealed – that booby lady in the blue bikini is not me people!

Hi Lianey,
Bit of a mistake, the 14 yr old boy and his mum, Hilary is actually me (Belinda) and son, 12yrs, Ryan tagging along for school holidays, non swimmer. Sorry, he is not raising money for Nepal.

Sorry Belinda (and Hilary and Cameron!) I must have had mild hypothermia when I jumped on you both with the camera. I’ll take that down and put up a photo of Cameron he sent to me today!
