Active wear, 5th March 2016

05/03/201615

Manly is a corner of the world where people are actively engaged in keeping fit.  Yoga, boot camp, jogging, people jogging with their prams / dogs, swimming.  Sometimes you may find the odd person just going to the shops in their active wear, but mostly it’s people keeping fit.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYRENWT8lz8

There are reoccurring themes when Zoe and I interview people each time we blog; that most of you joined the BnB for health reasons, that it is a beautiful way to start the day, to be fit and strong,  to meet new people and to achieve a new goal.  We love this!!!

Zoe and I are cheerleaders of activities that make a person happy.  It is a well known fact that exercise, food and happiness are related.  What other things do you do to keep your mind and body healthy and happy?

Once again we have asked a few members of the Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad: Why they started swimming with the BnB and how it makes them feel? Enjoy reading!

Good Morning beautiful Manly Beach

Mike started swimming with the Bold and Beautiful this year on the 2nd of January.  He decided to join for good health.  He is currently on holidays from work and is thoroughly enjoying his early morning swim.  Mike loves the Bold and Beautiful and is addicted.  He thinks it is great and awesome.

Jacquie with her mum Geraldine- “I was living up there and I saw everyone doing it every morning and so I decided that I would try it.  Give it a shot.  My first swim was 4 years ago.  It made me feel INVIGORATED!!”

Jacquie and I went to school together at Monte Sant’ Angelo, we were in the same homeroom class from 1993-1998.  We haven’t seen each other in over a decade.   This morning she casually showed up to the Bold and Beautiful to surprise me.  Best surprise!!  She is currently living in Singapore with her gorgeous son and fiance as she is working for Facebook.  She is here for a whirlwind visit as she was the guest speaker last night at our High School’s Father Daughter dinner.  You are an absolute SUPER STAR JACQUIE!

Charlie and Mike “We live in Bondi and we did the Cole Classic a month ago and we saw the Bold and Beautiful go out before our race.  There is no real ocean swim in Bondi, so we thought we might as well start swimming here.  After this, we are going to go running at Manly Dam.  This is our third swim.  It makes us feel awesome.”

Michael

“I loved your blog last time girls! (thank you) I had seen the swimmers for 2 or 3 years but I never thought I was strong enough to swim.  My cousin Anna McBold talked me into it.  I wore fins for the first 3 times – then I threw them away.  It is such a good start to the day.  This morning I got up and there are all sorts of business stuff I should be doing today but I thought – forget it  – this is going to clear my head and make me more creative for the rest of the day.”  (Your smile is golden Michael)

Penny (left)

“I enjoy swimming and I live in Queensie so it’s nice and easy for me.  I like having a lot of people around so it’s a social thing.  I also like it because it is such a nice swim being able to see all the aquatic life.”

Annette (right)

“I come down from Newport.  I really enjoy swimming with everybody.  Safety in numbers.  And when it is clear you can see all the aquatic life.”

Paul

“I did a double on my first day.  Second time down here I did the 10 km.  I have two happy places; one is in the bush, the other is the ocean.  I love the wildlife so seeing all the fish out here makes me really happy.  They’re a nice bunch of people.”

David Taylor

“I started swimming because my friends were.  Also, I am recovering from a cancer operation.  It makes me feel fantastic.  I have been in Manly for 16 years and for 16 years I started my morning with a surf.  But then 12 months ago I started swimming when I was recovering from my operation.”

Ross

“I am training for a triathlon.  If I don’t swim I cannot do the other two parts.  I have grown to love it. I used to swim when I lived in Manly but I have come from the East side today.  My name is Ross with an O.”  hahahahaha

Ravi is my chiropractor and good friend.  One of the ways I keep my body healthy is getting adjusted weekly.  He gave me great advice over a year ago and told me it would benefit my body if I started swimming.  After having 5 kids and experiencing sciatica, swimming was a great way to strengthen my body and to keep myself mobile.  Without his great advice I would have never had the courage to swim let alone swim in the ocean.  Ravi also swam with me on my first Bold and Beautiful swim on the 2nd of September last year to make sure I didn’t drown.  What a bloody Legend.  I see Ravi once a week for adjustments and my body has never felt better.  He is the Director at Northern Beaches Chiropractic, so if you are looking to finding a chiropractor in Manly who is amazing, Ravi is your guy.  (Pic taken on his way to the Practice this morning).

I actually took this pic by accident, but Zoe absolutely loves it. So here it is.

The BnB Squad coming in

For the next few months it will just be me blogging as Zoe is heading over to the Mediterranean.  I am going to miss this girl so much.  We met here at the BnB on her first swim and my fourth on the 4th October last year.  Since then we have been inseparable.  Most mornings you will see us down here giggling and carrying on like cray crays enjoying life and this beautiful part of the world.  She leaves on the 15th of March so be sure to come and say “hello” before she leaves.  When you see me walking around aimlessly without her, can you please throw me a peace sign?  I will still continue to Blog one Saturday a month and include pics of Zoe with her pink cap on, supporting the BnB from across the globe.

PEACE OUT SQUAD love Nat and Zoe.

Excellent blog. So what does the Mediterranean have? Water here too and excellent swimming. Also they may have the Internet there so keep in touch Zoe when Nat does her blog. I really love the stories from swimmers about how they started swimming. Such a bunch of individuals. Also, go Paul! 10km on 2nd swim. Wow.

Great blog girls! All the personalities you have captured in your stories prove just what an amazing club we all belong to. I love the fact that Charlie and Mike come all the way from Bondi. And how special having such a surprise catch up with Jacquie, Nat. Also love the accidental black and white arm photo as well. Brilliant! Congrats 10 kers!!

    Brilliant blog Nat & Zoe!!
Glad Shaun finally got to do his 10k. I dont think I could have endured another week of his stories on tapering and carb loading.

Really lovely friendly tone to the blog. Thanks. Also HUGE kudos to the 10 k’ers. Watching a number of them finish against the accelerating rip meant I witnessed many swimmers dig deep when already exhausted, particularly Mirek & Deanne who doggedly tried various approaches and an injured Mike. Inspirational !
