The triple crown of birthdays!

27/09/201713

today we celebrated Bernhard’s birthday from a few days ago, plus Elizabeth in the 7am group and Mel in the earlier group:

pre swim celebrations with elizabeth and bernhard-

post swim celebrations for mel ( second on left )

I met two of the four newbies, here is Zanthe with Shaun

And Michael joined us too:

We had 220 swimmers all up, all wearing a wonderful variety of costumes in colour and style:

Lainey kindly warmed up Annie after her early swim:

I walked around with Maria to Shelley so I wouldn’t miss out on birthday songs for Elizabeth. Such a calm bay with only a little bit of bumpiness at the point and shed area. Water temp: 17.5.

Tracey can finally swim during the week thanks to school holidays so joined Elizabeth for a pic before the return leg to Manly. I’m so glad I met Elizabeth, not just because she’s a slow swimmer like me. She’s so inspirational: has a lot of strength and determination, she often drops her quirky quips of humour onto me just to spur me along in case of self doubt or weakness. She’s brilliant at multi tasking, dare i say like most females, often puts her hand up or out to help anyone in need. She’s one of those all round good people without advertising herself, except on birthdays 🙂

Saw some pretty things today on the return leg, with a port jackson in the shallows too:

Rob left his jacket on the bench near the entrance to the club, we thinks it’s his, thanks Peter Barford for tossing it our way, Lisa will give it to our lovely second tier management peeps: Dorset or Shaun.

woops, it went sideways on the computer. the usual gathering of chitter chatter after the swim today: with a few additions and photobombs to the WOW’s, always welcome, it’s a huge wall!

our lovely life saviours 🙂

Have a lovely day everyone, it’s hump day, has to be good .

Monthly Dinner – 10th October 2017 – Guest Speaker

The next B&B monthly dinner will be held on Tuesday 10th October at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker on the night will be one of our regular swimmers, John Bryan, whose talk is entitled “Life after the Tsunami

John has travelled widely in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese. He will talk about how the Japanese are re-estabishing coastal communities in North East Japan, and how the Tohoku people are handling life after the tsunami (now 6yrs ago), and protecting and rebuilding their towns.

The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential:  To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.

ciao-Edwina.

Another excellent blog from you ‘Weenie’! You describe Elizabeth so well. Her determination doing some of the tough ocean swims, (sometimes after a B&B swim) always astounds me. She blogs even when busy with work and supports every charity going. Another amazing B&Ber. Happy Birthday to all 3 birthday swimmers!
