Today was the lovely Fiona’s birthday and conditions were just perfect for her, nice and clear, calm but rather chilly. You have to be there pretty early to see Fiona leave on her swim – she is one of these nutters above who head out with their headlamps before sunrise so by the time the 7am’ers are getting in the water they are having their coffee and heading off to face the day. She is also regularly listed as having swum the futherest in the last 30 days.
Speaking of sunrise this was the view this morning.
Sterling was there bright and early – I think he forgot to change out of his pyjamas before swimming. He is part of the A-team who head out after everyone else and still manage to get to Shelly Beach before most people.
Nathan completed his 20th Cold and Beautiful swim without a wetsuit today – Claire has already completed heres with a wetsuit.
These ladies were all smiles and trying not to think of the temperature.
Warringah Tri guys and girls generally swim on a Wednesday and Friday. They are all busy training for their first winter duathlon at North Head on 9 September. Check out their website for more details www.warringahtriathlonclub.com
It wasn’t too cold for Danny and the boys.
Nikky is back for a quick break after sailing with Matt Hayes on Influencer as he heads to Darwin for the start of his race around the world.
Teddy scared Edwina near the point this morning – he’s always playing tricks on Weena. Unfortunately Edwina and many other morning swimmers were attacked by jimbles this morning.
Emma (below) is now suffering through the winter chills – here she is in her Bold and Beautiful cap in the south of France.
Thanks to everyone who bought cakes on Saturday – Bold and Beautiful were able to donate $1000 to Aussie Helpers and $858.30 to Drought Angels – our little thank you to assist our farmers.
This Saturday there will be a short memorial to Greg McDonough at the beach around 6.55am before the swim. Greg was a regular B&B swimmer and one of the first surfboard manufacturers on the Northern Beaches.
Anyway till next time – keep swimming.
Stats:
Temperature: 15.1
Total swimmers: about 80
Monthly Dinner – 14th August 2018 – Guest Speaker
The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 14th August at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest speaker on the night will be B&B swimmer, Brendan Maher. Brendan, who describes himself as a very average swimmer, managed to overcome a chronic shoulder injury and swim the English Channel in July 2017. He will speak of his motivation, training for the swim, and what it’s like for the average swimmer to attempt a marathon swim. This talk will be an inspiration to all of us who count ourselves in the ‘B Team’ (or even the Zeds!).
The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.

Lovely blog Dea, happy and fun to read! Such a shame a few people encountered a Jimble. I saw one near the shed but was able to swim around it. It helps swimming slow and having a mask and snorkel.
