These guys and Murray, Jo and Capless swam at 5.40am today. Infact despite the thunder, lightening and rain all who swam came back smiling saying things like,’There’s something special about swimming in the rain’ (Newish swimmer Liz), ‘Luverlee!” (Sarah-Anne), “It was actually really nice” (Little Sarah)!!!
Our fearless leaders were there early to welcome the few that turned up. They are asking very kindly if people could please donate some prizes for the Christmas Party raffle on 11 Dec in aid of Royal Far West.
The sad news today was that this Kingfish was found dead with a spear in it washed up on shore…
Here are the 6.30am Super Heroes, only 3 of them today. Lesbubbs reported having super powers now after a flash of lightening. Careful what you wish for Lesbubbs… Seriously though the thunder and lightening seemed quite far away from 6.30am onwards and it seemed safe to swim.
Inge was scared though, as she says here, but swam anyway and was glad she did!
Julia and Dave were 7.05amers but swam all the way!
This is what it looked like in the middle of the bay at 5.50am. Photo courtesy of Fiona.
Jo and Ian at The Point.
All in all a fun swim, warm, bouncy with lovely waves to bring you in. The rain added to the magic!
Blog I loaded last night as I knew I had to work today
One of my very amateur cartoons way back before we had our very own B&B cartoonist as in Roger! The many reasons for swimming with this amazing group still apply though, and this year on 27th December we celebrate 10 years of The Bolds, Pink Caps or ‘Bold and Beautiful’, we all have our preferred names… swimming every day in all conditions!

Wobbegong camouflaged on a rock surrounded by Mados and Pomfred
Brightly coloured Goatfish
The huge Ray quite a lot of us saw yesterday. We think its a Bull Ray with part of tail missing.

B&B Fundraising Christmas Party
Please book early for the B & B Christmas Party, which will be held on Tuesday 11th December at 6.30 pm in the Moonshine Bar (2nd Floor) at the Steyne Hotel. All swimmers and partners/friends are welcome (no under 18s unfortunately). The theme is simply “Christmas”, so come dressed in your finest Christmas paraphernalia. The music this year will again be provided by the band, “Gluteus Maximus”, who play two types of music, Rock and Roll! The cost is $15 per head, with all proceeds going to the running costs of the B&B. Book now! Don’t miss out on this fun event, as numbers are limited. Book HERE now!
On the night, Royal Far West will be running a monster raffle and auction. Last year, this raised over $4000 for their important programs for disadvantaged kids. There will be fantastic items up for grabs, so be prepared to bid hard. Royal Far West have requested if you have any valuable items to donate for the auction or raffle, that you contact Desiree(desireec@royalfarwest.org.au), who will be co-ordinating the event for RFW.
Have a great day!

Thanks for including me as a “Super Hero”, Lainey and thx for a great blog as usual Actually, Jon & I just went out at about 6.35 for a short swim. Surprisingly warm and clear, giant ray near the Point, surf tumbling us back….
Beach and Path to Shelly closed now and let’s see if the boat in the bay survives the forecast gale force winds this evening!
What a difference a day makes when you swim in the ocean!!

Bold, crazy… and inspiringly fearless.
Lovely blog Lainey. Love the wave action behind Jo and Ian, Fi’s pirate ketch, and Lesbub’s is looking hot ain’t she?

Thanks Shelley. You would have been there if you lived closer to check it out. Apparently Manly got only a quarter of the rain Mosman did before 9am
