They say never talk about sex, religion and politics in polite company… which is a shame because I like all three. Well it was hard to ignore this morning with the anti-Abbott greenie, socialist, inner west, Get Up types out in force this morning…
It will certainly be an interesting lead up to the election with lots of negative sentiment around Tony and Mosman Barista Zali Steggall making a good run at the job. I’m in the undecided swing voter section, but based on my snap poll of Jim, JP and Jim’s mate… she will face an uphill battle.
Personally I will vote for whoever is first to promise hot showers at the surf club, for all, through winter.
In less controversial matters – it was a beautiful gold and silver tinted morning…
Jimbob and Sterling reported for duty!
Denver who I met at my church has become a 7 day a week regular. He forgot his swimmers this morning and had to wear his gym shorts… I’ll be taking him and some other regular swimmers and their partners through a Marriage Preparation Course in April. Come and see me if you’re interested in joining us. We look at good communication, healthy conflict resolution, commitment and so on…
Tammy is an IT super guru! And a good swimmer… though she surfed instead this morning…
It was a great swim this morning. Patches of warm and cool water. Kristof was first back. And wonderful Kim has proven quick off the beach in her flippers!
Have a great day… and vote 1. Drinksy… for all your tile and grout needs!

Very disappointing blog letting personal biases shine through. If anyone that opposes Tony Abbott is labelled as a socialist we’re in trouble.

I object to this blog and find it offensive on so many levels (sorry). I don’t think I need to elaborate.

Zali Steggall is a barrister not a barista! She may make a good coffee away from the bar though.

Labelling people “greenies, socialists or get-up types” is a bit too Daily Telegraph for me.

If I cared about the Liberal party I would say Abbott has done more to undermine its future than any other politician.
If only we could make hot showers a federal issue!
Otherwise, thanks for the nice blog. Here’s to more religion, politics and sex (and may they come with a side order of rock n roll)

Greenie socialist.

Absolutely not. This kind of thing gives the entire area a bad reputation, not just the B and B. Sorry but I find this pretty offensive.

Irrespective of whose views are expressed does management condone the contents of this blog? Does management think they are within the spirit of the group and in keeping with the ‘brand’ you would like to present of this friendly inclusive group who are encouraged to act responsibly? Does management think that the repeated peddling of ones own business/religion in the group, in the face of numerous comments of discomfort at this over years, is the standard that is right for the blog?

Im a swing voter too – swinging between One nation and Tony Abbott – who can forget the time that he listened to 25% of the electorate and refused to vote for marriage equality!

Who is management Elizabeth E?
This is a social group of diverse people who meet in a public place to do a swim together.
Is anyone really management? What “brand” are you talking about Elizabeth E? You speak as if Bold and Beautiful swimming is a company. Its not. Its a “social” group of diverse people who meet in a public space to swim (you could almost say it is socialist if that means social people getting together)
Hence your terms “management” and “brand” do not apply.
So I don’t see any point in suggesting “management should do something about this”? Unless you care to delineate who “management” is and what the actual B n B “brand”
is? I am not aware of any “brand” there, hence Some may disagree with you.

Ha ha – yes hot water would be wonderful in the showers?
Should we make sure the showers are not socialist and put user pays meters in first?

Hi, my name is Mark Kelly. I swim with the B&B every now and then. Julie was my next door neighbour when she started the B&B all those years ago. The sign is mine, I had it printed. I actually started the whole Vote Tony Out movement. I am not a Greenie, I live in Bower St which is hardly the inner west and I doubt I’m a socialist, nor am I part of Get Up. I am however one of the 82% of people in Warringah that believes in climate change and one of the 75% that voted in favour of gay marriage which puts me in direct opposition to our current member. If you have time. Check out the web page http://www.votetonyout.com and the instagram page @votetonyout or the FB page @votetonyout – you might just see a few people you recognise there.
The idea of the movement was to get people to start a conversation. Thanks to the sign and your blog post Tim this has been happening for a few days now. Join the Tribe. You will be welcome.

Hi Elizabeth, it’s OK to have the conversation. That is what Vote Tony Out is all about. The author has done us all a favour. Cheers Kel @ Vote Tony Out

Good on you Mark – I look forward to the today that climate change denying fool Abbott is out of parliament and sitting on a bench in Manly feeding the seagulls and wondering where it all went wrong. I look forward to participating in his downfall. Thanks for the links

Alana, Bold and Beautiful is definitely both a brand and a product. It is used by Medibank as a marketing tool, to promote itself and a wellness-linked brand. B and B receives payment from medibank, and stopped being just a little community swim many years ago.

Hi Kel
I have absolutely nothing against the conversation about Abbott. Have made my own contributions to that discussion separately. There were other issues in the blog (with associated history) I was referring to.
Well done on your efforts to make our democracy stronger & more representative

Great job Kel. Fully support what you’re doing re getting Tony out off your own bat.
I’m also a Manly local and not some raving greenie, just someone with kids who wants them to grow up in a fair and just society, and for us to continue to live in an amazing environment and minimise the impacts from climate change. This is not a fringe view based on the discussions I’ve had with many others in Manly. Time for Tony to go. I will do all I can to make sure it happens.
