Friday 10 May 2019 In the know

10/05/20192

If you were swimming today, you are in the know. What a beautiful time of year to swim. The sea is gently rolling, the water is warmer than the air, there is sun but it is not glarey,  and it is an engineering way to start your day. Plus you get a swim in. It is all about swimming for me and I am currently focusing on posture. Unlike other swimmers who may be slow I have so many things to improve so my slowness is not inexplicable.

There was a bit of movement going out to the point from the beach. The elders of the swim say – let the rip take you out> But if you watch crime movies, taking someone out has a totally different meaning so you may not be that willing

Here is my Getting Ready for the Swim chapter:

Beautiful early swimmers

Here is the A team under teh A team tree. One of them was too fast to capture with a mere camera

Bright

Action shot of getting undressed

Beanie; no hat; swim cap.

Champions of the swim community. Great swimmers but always welcoming to all.

Shower scene. People are so keen to be in this I have to sneak up to take it before everyone disperses

Look at these 3 emerging from the sea. Big smiles

Warm up those shoulders. That is something else I have found out about: to improve swimming you have to train, get fit, stretch etc. Nothing gets past me.

Swimming is an individual sport but that does not mean you can’t do it adjacent to friends

Look at these swimmers! I love a bit of colour. I am banishing black for my swimming costumes for autumn-winter (and not just because people keep reporting sightings of whales at Manly)

More stretching is never too much

It really does not feel warm getting in

Wendy agreed to be photod

Camille first timer and friends

Matt and Andy

I am trying to capture the sense of waves

Claudia is the furthererst swimmer

Look at the soft light

Hi – people are so nice even though by interrupting them i am ruining their times on Garmin/Suunto etc

Those elbows are a symphony to me

On land, we have the WOWs (women of the wall) MODs (men of the door). In the water we also have the babewatch – and what a great trivia night they had last night raising money for youth mental health, 180 (and I stayed up way past my bed time! it was great. Go to the next one). In the water they have the Dubs and the Trips. Sound like gangs, I am imagining a bit of sweeping dance moves for entry and exit in future: Here is Greg the leader of the Trips today in his distinctive suit

Again I did not get to Shelly while there were others there. This is particularly so in the cooler months where people get cold if they dont move. But I got to hear a reprise of the Let’s Go on landwith the help of many of the MODs

Lastly, i took a photo of the clouds with a fish eye view ie from under the water. Art house

We Still have not exhausted the supply of newbies. 8 today.

Temp was 19.8
