Well here we are again. Enjoying the stunning winter conditions and glorious sunrise.
The water temperature does appear to be gradually heading south, but we hardy swimming types scoff at the idea of sleeping in on such a perfect day.
Mind you, when there are warming cuddles galore from friends you haven’t seen for a whole 24 hours, how could you not turn up.
We’ve seen it a million times before, but the sun peeking over the horizon as we head to the point is still one of those magical moments. It also helps to distract your mind from the certainty that your lower limbs have gone completely numb in the icy water.
Finally to the point and off we go!! Water was beautifully clear!
Still more hugs to share body heat and defend yourself against the ‘Shelly Shiver’.
Our newbie today – just one – was dragged into the water by Jac. Here are Rainer and Michele making him feel welcome. Or maybe blog tarting. . .
JK.
Nothing else needs to be said about this iconic member of the management team.
A few fishes out and about. . .
The early swimmers had told us about an enormous 2 metre ray that they had seen. As we approached the last few strokes of the swim, Rainer did his very best to imitate the ray (’cause we couldn’t find the real one). Not a bad job don’t you think?
The MODs (Men Of the Door) gather in their sunny spot to thaw jaws, tell tales, and drink coffee.
Now today is the 7th Anniversary of the amazing day the Whale came to swim with the B&B. A terrific day that will be remembered by the 49 swimmers. They even have a special badge!!
I was one of those that thought it was way to cold and wintery to go and see all those people I had only seen yesterday. . . . See what happens when you sleep in!
Have a great day.
Mary

Winter swimming
The B&B Winter swimming season starts on 1st June. Although the water temperature may be a little colder than you might like, there are several advantages of swimming in winter, including flat seas, good visibility and no bluebottles. Perhaps the biggest advantage is that you can also qualify for a winter badge by swimming a minimum of 20 times between 1st June and 31st August. You must also swim in at least 7 different weeks. If you manage to do all of your qualifying swims without a wetsuit (or other thermal enhancing equipment), you will also qualify for the coveted WWW badge (Winter without wetsuit). Start now, and don’t forget to log your swims to qualify.
The Monthly Dinner – 13th August 2019 – Guest Speaker
The Next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 13th August at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest on the night will be B&B Swimmer, Duncan Young, who is the head of health and wellbeing for Lendlease. The title of Duncan’s talk will be ‘Does the ideas of living to 100 excite you or fill you with dread?’ He will speak about ‘living and working in the age of longevity’, what can we learn from super-agers about elongating our healthy lifespans? Don’t miss this very interesting presentation.
Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential. To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book at www.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-bluewater-monthly-dinner.html

Superb blog, Mary! You still got it!
They say blogging is like riding a bicycle. I think it means you can’t legally do it on the footpath. And you need to wear a helmet. Never understood that saying.
PS: I too missed the whale swim that morning. Thanks for rubbing it in again.

Mary! Welcome back to blog world! Wonderful blog. And well done on the best photobomb of the year – Rainer adjusting his cap “just so” over JK’s shoulder.
