The challenge is on! These 6 swimmers (spot the 6th) were in the top 20 swimmers of 2019 mini challenge and were getting a bit cocky about it this morning! SO…. the challenge is ON to knock them out of the 2020 20! Are you up for the challenge??? It might mean starting 5.00am every morning and swimming to Queensland and back but let’s give it a go!
Not sure if Niek and Anton are up for the challenge as they are still psyching themselves up to do their first ever Shelly return swim (Anton reckons he’s going to do it butterfly 😳) but never underestimate bearded men who look like an aeroplane.
So….if you are up for the challenge – leave a comment below and the position you’d like to finish in within the 2020 20!
Today is a special day for special birthdays! Justus, celebrating with a swim with his lovely daughter Suzy, turns XX (<- insert number here. Person who guesses the age correctly wins the jellybean jar). Happy birthday Justus! Photo credit Roger Harvey.
Derek, Ed and Bindi wishing Justus a very happy birthday!
And Cheryl (in liquorice allsort cozzie) – who is celebrating the 35th anniversary of her 21st birthday. There’s nothing like celebrating your birthday with this great community! Happy birthday Cheryl!
Speaking of celebrations – Lainey was recently honoured with the B&B title ‘Nicest Person in Manly 2019’ taking the title away from lower middle management Shaun and Michael Sheehan! As you can see, Shaun is most unhappy!
Shaun can already be seen clocking up brownie points in his desperate bid to reclaim the title by:
- signing in newbies
- pretending to be nice
- hanging out with cool, community minded crayweed experts, like Dorset.
- He has also been spotted gurneying peoples driveways and dusting their chandeliers! He strongly feels that the only reason Lainey won the title was because she washed a homeless person’s clothes once. You be the judge!
Lots of swimmers turned up today from near and far. According to Shaun, who can now ALSO be found diligently counting swimmers (one more to add to the list)- there were 95x 6.30am swimmers this morning and 210 x 7 O’clockers.
Lyn and Brian came all the way from US to swim with us today! We hope you enjoyed the swim and look forward to seeing you again here soon.
Speaking of Americans, we were also blessed with the presence of Donald Trump this morning which was such a delight!
It was a delight because luckily it wasn’t the real Donald, just a toilet brush look alike which was gifted to John (who is partial to US politics) by Gayle Pocahontas McKnight.
Photos of the pre, post and during swim swimming community!
Brian has created a new definition of blog tart as he dropped his towel in front of the camera- it was an accident and he turned redder than the reddest of red but don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story! He went to show us his sore finger but exposed his butt instead. Butt-finger; finger- butt. It’s easy to get these two mixed up!
And now for some water photos – Photo credit to Lainey and Anne!
This Saturday there is a B&B cake stall fundraiser at the beach! If you have time to bake please bring your baked goodies down anytime from 6.15am and give them to Roz Beaver (right) or Lainey (left). Nicky i(n the middle) is leaving for UK on Tuesday and happy she can attend the cake stall before she goes! Everyone else, please bring some $$ to buy the goodies! All proceeds will be going to the Red Cross Bush Fire Appeal.
Will leave you with a photo of a beach goer looking out over the ocean, wearing in a PINK t-shirt – reminding us that the bushfire has affected people all round the world who are kindly donating to the bushfire appeal! Thank you PINK for your half a million dollar donation!
Have a great week!
Lucy

Another thoroughly entertaining blog Lucy packed full with info, pics and frivolity! You turned a day that seemed ‘quite ordinary’ in to another amazing drama! Where is the gorgeous underwater pic of you I took though?

Daniel – its not an official event but every time you swim & log your swim your kms are recorded. You can check how many kms you’ve swum throughout the year by clicking on the mini challenge in the daily view. It’s quite prestigious to end up in the top 20 swimmers at the end of the year based on the number of kms you’ve swum! Most of the people in the top 20 swim between 3 and 6 (or more) kms a day so its pretty hard to get there but give it a go!! You can click on the 2020 mini challenge icon to see how many kms you’ve recorded this year already (assuming you log your swims!)

Thanks Lainey loo! Always good material to write about at the b&b. Just wondering when you are going to give Roger Ingram his cheese grater. He said himself he’s been hanging to read a violent movie.

Great blog Lucy. Conditions, although a little smoky, were perfect for swimming and coffee shenanigans.
