4-03-2020: wet wednesday – gloomy or glorious?

There were two schools of thought, in addition to schools of fish, on the conditions of the swim today! Sue Marinan gave it thumbs down with words along the lines of gloomy, dark, bumpy, wet, cold! Ros Ex and Petra, on the other hand, thought it was fabulous, glorious, beautiful and smooth at Shelly.

Petra, fellow wednesday blogger, is having the time of her life!

Lainey, who thinks every swim is fabulous, was wondering where all the people were. She found out they were all out buying toilet paper. FYI – Scomo has put a level 4 restriction on toilet paper now so it can only be used outside of 10am and 4pm.

Some lucky swimmers were able to make it to the swim as their supermarkets had already run out of toilet paper.

This looks bit dark and gloomy – but lets not be ‘glass half empty’ and see it for what it really is – a beautiful photo of no pollution and free of any beings.

Here are some photos of beautiful sea life I took earlier. (I didn’t take these photos really – Anne Henshaw did – but let’s not let truth get in the way of a good story).

These lovely photos are actually taken today! Thanks a million Julien Marchand.

For those of you who did turn up for the swim today, did any of you spot this in the water? I’m referring to the octopus, not to Jonathon, below, who was definitely in the water. By the time he got to work, I’m sure he would have been as wet as he’d been when he got out of the water. Should have stayed in his cossie.

Happy hump day! Don’t forget to book your tix to the wine tasting. Even the Mocktail March participants can come to the wine tasting cos you are meant to spit the wine out.

Thanks a million to Lainey who also provided photos today! Have a great trip to Cuba.

Lucy

The Monthly Dinner – 10th March 2020 – Wine Tasting

The next B&B monthly dinner will be held on Tuesday 10th March at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Special guest, David Webster, will present the range of Bold and Beautiful wines especially for B&B members and their friends. The Bold and Beautiful wines were born out of the idea of creating a village wine for Manly. The wines comprise two wines made in the Hunter Valley by rising star James Becker of M&J Becker Wines. The red, “The Beautiful”, is a Shiraz Viognier blend made in a very light style perfect for summer drinking. The white, “The Bold”, is 100% Chardonnay made in a fruit forward style with strong Chardonnay flavours but low oak usage. Once you have tasted the wines, you can purchase bottles through the restaurant to enjoy over dinner.

Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each (please note, NO BYO). Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential. To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book atwww.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-bluewater-monthly-dinner.html .

Bold and Beautiful is owned and operated by Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad Pty Ltd.

Thanks for the blog Lucy! i thought it was a bit “slappy” but I did see the fiddler ray on the way back in, and plenty of schools of fish. Any day that you get to swim is a good day :)! And no queues in the changeroom. Happy holidays to all you people heading off to regions beyond soon. We’re going to spend the weekend at Manly, so I’m looking forward to rolling out of bed 5 minutes before swimming, instead of over an hour beforehand.

    Glorious!
Clever blog, anyone would think you’d actually been there.
Now I’ve dried out a bit, I will resume the hunt for bog rolls. Yesterday I came up short. MUST STOCK UP

How do you do it Lucy? You manage to produce a blog that had me giggling away with only the few boring photos I sent you! You’re amazing!

Oh Shelley, you’ve popped my bubble! I was convinced that Lucy was somewhere in the (extremely small) crowd and I’d just managed to miss seeing her. I will now sink into despair; not only a fake blog, but toilet paper restrictions too (although I did manage to buy a packet of pasta after my swim this morning to feed to my 3 (4) boys tonight). In this crazy world, if you can’t depend on the BnB blog, what is there?? Is everyone going to stop swimming soon because of fears we’ll get the virus from each other???

Due to the “Virus”, from March 7 2020, hugging and kissing at the B&B will be banned. Signs of affection will be limited to a fist bump or a gentle butt squeeze. Care should be exercised in this latter form of greeting. The correct pressure to apply to the butt is slightly more than a gentle pat, but significantly less than a grope.
