Friday 22 May 2020 Same beach Vastly different conditions

May 22, 20204

BOLD & BEAUTIFUL IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING DUE TO THE RISKS OF CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19). IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE SOCIAL DISTANCING AND FOLLOW PUBLIC HEALTH ADVICE

Thank you for swimming at different times of the day and maintaining 1.5m distance.

AND WEAR A CAP SO THAT YOU CAN BE SEEN BY OTHER SWIMMERS, KAYAKERS AND SURFERS.

A very cold day today in the air. The water was warm. I am not sure as I did not have a thermometer but maybe 19plus. It was not very clear but despite the big rain last night, there was less litter in the water than yesterday. But that would not be hard. There was lots of litter yesterday. Remember to take 3 (or more) for the sea ie take rubbish out when you have finished the swim. The ramp concrete has not been heated. I expressed that wish last winter but it still has not been done. Priorities!

There were occasional waves at the beach. The wind was across the top of the water. Lucky for me that I swim submerged – had I improved my technique I would have been cold. Also, the temperature at Shelly was freezing for the last 10 m or so. What is the scientific explanation for this phenomenon?

TURTLE TURTLE TURTLE – is the CBT inhabitant to spot. Juliette is summoning it by wearing her new swimmers with turtles on the top:

If you see a turtle, Do not touch though.

Today some divers saw an angel shark which they said is like a wobby but broader. I could not see anything  – I look forward to photos being posted by the kind people that can see and photograph fish

What I have been reading: continuing the series of Breen and Tozer by William Shaw set in London in the 1960s. Good quick reading. And looking forward to the new Michael Connelly book coming out next week!!!!!

A heated ramp – what a delicious thought! Perhaps followed by hot showers flowing with dark hot chocolate, and then hugs with your friends and ….flying pigs?! Thank you for your way with words Elizabeth.
Btw, I’ve been reading the teen flicks collected by my son that his school library discarded. Quite liked ‘Against the Tide’ by Irini Savvides, partly because it has quite a bit of ocean swimming in it. Set at the time of the Cronulla riots.
