5/10/2021 – Jimble Kisses

05/10/20210

There wasn’t a lot to see today. Viz was poor and patchy. You can always rely on the Mullet though! Peta swims through them in pic above. This morning the water temp had gone down a degree from yesterday to 16.7 so when asked about the swim quite a few swimmers replied ‘Cold!’ They also mentioned Jimbles!

It was quite calm though with a few gentle waves… the sun was shining and the wind hadn’t picked up…

and flat across the bay.

The 4 swimmers I originally lined up for a photo were actually socially distanced but then cheeky ‘Capless Dave’ sneaked in the middle causing a bunch up! We forgive you Capless. He does provide free hot toddies from his floating bar when it’s the Skinny Swim so I’d forgive him anything!

Monday blogger Simon on the right coming in from an early swim.

This is Errol’s son Sean and he assures us Errol is well and will be back at the swim soon 🙂

Greg and Jo

Daniel got kissed by a Jimble today right on his ‘conk’!

Having a joke about Jimbles with this lot after the swim. The guy with the white beard, let’s call him Snowy, offered to be the first B&B swimmer and catch the stingers in his beard to stop us getting stung!

Would you believe it this lot are in their 60’s? Tony, Merrilee, Rik and Sheena looking fabulous after their dose of Vitamin Sea!

A few photos below of marine creatures the last couple of weeks. To be honest I haven’t seen anything riveting the last few days with the poor viz and surge at The Bower but there’s always a few PJs to provide some interest!

Is this female PJ in agony or ecstasy? Hard to tell with shark sex 😉

Fiddler Ray

Blind Shark looking weird…

Toadfish close up!

Winter Badge Collection 2021

The Winter badges are finally on their way! Congratulations to all those who completed their Covid-19 winter swimming challenge. As more than 500 swimmers qualified, the badge distribution this year will initially be via snail mail to maintain a Covid-safe environment for our volunteers. Unfortunately, only virtual handshakes and hugs from Ian, John, Anne and Pauline and contact-less distribution.
There are two ways you can obtain your badge(s)

  • Method 1. Inside a self-addressed, stamped envelope place cash for your badge/s – $10 per badge for the Winter Badge (if you completed 20 swims over winter) and an extra $10 for the WWW Badge if you did those swims without a wetsuit. Family members/friends sharing an envelope must clearly name each swimmer and badge achieved. Please check postage rates and size of envelope required for multiple badges. Post this envelope in another envelope to Ian Forster, 6 Bligh St, Northbridge. 2063.
  • Method 2. Wait until Covid restrictions on gathering are relaxed. We will then arrange a time for you to collect your badges from us in person. No promises when this will be but it may be when the vaccination rate reaches 80%.

Badges will be posted as soon as they arrive. If you have any other badges that you are missing and wish to purchase, please include cash for those as well.

Have a great day

Lainey (filling in for Amanda)
