There’s a light that never goes out

04/03/20223

Deserted car parks, desolate streets. A combination of menacing conditions kept many from Manly.

I pace the lonely streets and sand towards the bunker. War has been declared on the Manly beachfront. Pollution. Disappearing sand. A 4m shark rumoured to be lurking, waiting at the point.

This week’s we’ve seen life guards eagerly printing signs that show different ways to die. But nothing stops Dave Panton, who punches through the waves, 2 mates in tow. No jet ski rescue required with these iron men.

Nothing stops the irrepressible Guy as well. Temperature slightly dropping, still felt pretty good for my tea bag dip.

Guy brightens our day ahead

Drinks Express have taken up a new hobby in the era of a perilous ocean

A long time grey yields to some colour

Queensie has been washed off the map

A few have wondered about these weird looking concrete saucers

The East Coast low has caused extreme erosion and the old Manly Life Saving Club deck pylons have reappeared

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people
And I want to see life

The council’s yellow sign factory has gone into over drive. 2 more fatal pastimes added today – the danger surf conditions locking up the path to Shelley, along with the rock fall above the path (wasn’t me walking that path officer!)

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die

And in the darkened underpass, I thought, “Oh God, my chance has come at last”
But then a strange fear gripped me, And I just couldn’t ask

Spot the 3 swimmers

A wind change due, with a southerly due for the next few days. Maybe it will get more inviting

Thanks for the swim & coffee Team. Don’t let your true love run cold!

    Great pics and blog!
It’s still wonderful down at the beach, on the sand, chatting to friends, stretching out, having a tea-bag! x
