May as well get wet

09/07/20260

The rain is forecast to ease over the next few days, gifting us fine weather and a decreasing swell until at least next Tuesday, so we have a good window of opportunity to swim and accumulate the numbers towards the winter badges, including the much coveted WWW badge while the water is still relatively warm – around 18 today (how’s that for a long sentence?).

From the shoreline, the clouds were dark, but with shafts of sunlight poking through.

Ski paddlers were taking advantage of the swell to keep their skills up. There are always lots of Manly LSC members training in or on the water, on the beach or in the gym. That’s why they always do so well at carnivals and competitions.

Some earlier swimmers, rugged up enjoying a hot drink and chats

On account of the SE swell direction and size, swimming along the rocks past the point (known as the aquarium) was not advisable. The Beachwatch report for today advised that wather pollution at Manly and Shelly was unlikely and gave both beaches the green tick.As someone who remembers the days before the deep ocean outfalls, I am grateful for this workaround even though it’s a suboptimal fix.

So, no fish photos today (and not even doggy photos, although Bruno, Freddy, Bindi and Zelenska all graced us with thier presence while Napoleon is at his beach retreat)  but here are some indications of the improving weather conditions.

Music wise I am very excited. I’m a Joe Jackson fan and he and his band are touring early next year. This is the cover of his new album, I really like the art work

And here is one of his old favourites. On Countdown would you believe?
