Happy Australia Day !

26/01/20260

What a lovely way to start the week with a Happy Australia Day on a Monday . We had a smaller than usual group turn up for the 7am swim , and the usual ceremony of singing our national anthem. Thank you to Cathy for leading us into the first verse for the song.
The water temperature is 22 degrees today and I swam to the halfway area and back, all alone, back through some sets of waves and surgy water movement.
I’m slower than the average swimmer and often end up alone. So due to recent shark attacks and sightings I chose a shorter route and stuck to the rocks.
I was graced with a beautiful view of sun and clouds over the bay, some tropical fish I haven’t seen here before, and plenty of the usual fish . As I arrived back to shore I found Val dipping between the flags, it’s always a joy to return to the pine trees at the beach.
Everyone gathered to help the cake stall raise money for a local charity- One Meal. Thanks to all those who helped.

Yes, as I was leaving the shark alarm went off, and beach was deemed closed for an hour. No one knows what type of shark was spotted by a swimmer, but for safety a few nearby beaches were also closed.
Have a lovely Australia Day everyone.
