8-07-20: A cool ocean hug with huge ray!

08/07/20207

BOLD & BEAUTIFUL IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING DUE TO THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING AND STAYING INSIDE AS MUCH AS IS POSSIBLE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19).

The temperature reading in the car this morning was a warm 14 degrees! It was a bit drizzly when I got to the beach and given the varying temp of the water over the last few days, it could have gone either way. Lucky for us it was 16.8 (not 168 and not 15.5 either!)

Getting into the ocean in winter is like getting a big, enriching, nurturing (& a tad cool 😳) hug from your favourite grandma without the sloppy kiss. It’s the best thing since sliced bread (from Jamie’s Seaforth bakery, Staples).

As well as the all encompassing ocean hug you also get to experience big beautiful rays gliding gently beneath you, as they scan the ocean floor for food and relish their own ocean hug.

We are so lucky to have the best lifeguards in Australia look after this part of the beach. Bordo looks after Manly and also Queenscliff and is always calm, collected and super patient with us all. We appreciate the awesome work you do, Bordo, protecting the people and keeping the beach safe!

There was a hive of activity this morning as people came, swam and left – doing the COVID shuffle – as people continue to swim at different times.

There were a lot of shenanigans going on this morning and the person causing the ruckus managed to escape having his photo taken.

…until I snapped him here asking passersby whether they thought he had a hairy armpit. Meanwhile Richard pretended not to know us.

These two are an item so are allowed to get up close and personal!

So are these two – (or three! Ian!).

It’s always nice meeting new people especially if your name is Dave and you grew up in Canberra. Here is Dave and Dave who both grew up in Canberra, meeting for the first time!

Jane and Amanda with big smiles on their faces after an invigoratingly cold hug from the ocean today!

…and ditto for Danny.

Matt is over the moon because he has a week off work this week! He also has five kids and its school holidays so I don’t know how much of a holiday he is going to get! 😄🤣 Sorry Matt!

Fiona and Sandy smiling patiently, despite the cold, for the annoying blogger! 😄

Although you can’t see her face, this is Fiona, who hasn’t seen her friend the bright blue groper with the gammy eye for at least 3 days. She is worried about him. If you spot the groper please let Fiona know so she can stop worrying!

And last but not least Cath, Fiona and Paul warming up in the sun.

Happy hump day and have a good week.
