5/10/2025 – A Visit from B&B Founder Julie Isbill!

05/11/20251

Jules gets in a photo with some of ‘The Mermaids’ at Shelly beach. This group have made Friday mornings at 8am the best party around with music, Fireball whiskey, champagne and cake post-swim!

It was fantastic to have Jules aka Julie Isbill join us for a swim today. If it wasn’t for Jules there wouldn’t be such a welcoming, inclusive swim group such as ours and apparently it’s the largest ocean swimming group in the world!

Two wonderful Doctors share a hug! Jules left her beloved Manly and swim group to study medicine in Perth 13 years ago. Our very own retired Emergency Dr Michele knows how hard those studies were. She worked as a nurse for many years before training to be a doctor whilst bringing up 2 kids!

There was a huge turn out of swimmers for an Autumn Wednesday today. Here we all are at Shelly. We’ve cheere Jules and are about to splash our birthday swimmer Peter Anthony!

Some of ‘The Originals’ Madhi, Deb and Attracta. These ladies joined Jules back in 2008 when a few women decided to swim across the bay together. Each day more and more swimmers joined them and The Bold and Beautiful Swim was born 🙂

Tim welcomes new swimmers at Shell Beach and makes sure birthday swimmers get a splash and a song before the ‘Let’s Go!’ Thank you Tim, you do a great job.

Water temp was 18.3 this morning.

These ladies met at the swim but now go walking together every Monday. Well done ladies, they survived a difficult 16 km walk on Monday in 34 degree heat.

Peter Anthony donning his seaweed wig shouts ‘Let’s Go’ on his birthday!
Jules chats to Jane as they begin their swim. Note the high tide right up the beach today.
Swimmers help swimmers as we negotiate the step down from the ramp.

These guys always put a smile on our faces. Cain and Annie get the best peope working at the coffee shop. Here are 2 of them, Vitor and Henry

The Christmas party does get booked out so don’t leave it too late to book tickets. Always such a great night at Bucketys. Go on the website to book if this doesn’t work.

This huge Wobbegong was at the point last week and looked pregnant to me. Today Claudia saw a Wobbie with a baby. Could she have given birth?
Resident turtle Basil that many of us call Teddy
This was a new turtle I saw in the bay last week.
A Cuttlefish last week

The Smooth Ray that was really close to Shelly last Wednesday

The Smooth Ray from below.

Have a great day folks and keep swimming!
