5-02-2020: Napoleon Photobombaparte

05/02/202010

On first look I thought Rainer had photobombed this great pic of Merrilee and Georgina, sporting a bit of extra facial hair. On closer examination, realised it was Merrilee’s dog, Napoleon, who wanted to be front and centre of the Big Reveal!

What is the ‘Big Reveal’ you ask? It’s the first viewing of our very own, Georgina Hart’s, brand new swim suit design, being expertly modelled by Merrilee –  fishies donning pink caps and googles! Having almost won the Budgy Smuggler design silent auction at B&B Christmas party, Budgy Smuggler gave Georgina the opportunity to create a fabulous design anyway! Much to the delight of the WOWs, here is the long awaited end product!

Sooze sporting the new cossie!

Sooze and Champs sporting the new cossie

Ned sporting his new cossie. He would have preferred a pair similar to Champ’s, but given all the blueys of late, he’s happy with more cover.

I almost forgot…Sooze sporting the new cossie. 😆

Keep an eye out as more cossies emerge this week and take to the ocean! Actually, we probably don’t need Budgy Smuggler anymore. We could create a B&B swim suit business with a unique name – perhaps along the lines of ‘Smudgy Buggler’ & get Georgina & other creative B&Bers to do all the design! How cool would that be?

It was a messy morning today with JK announcing the presence of blue bottles and recommending a swim north to the pipe. Some swam north and others swam to Shelly. The ones that swam to Shelly are still waiting for the ‘Lets Go’. Can someone duck down there and yell it out please, so they can get on with their day? Ta!

Off they go!

Shenanigans near the pipe!

My new goggles are in there somewhere! Never turn your back on the ocean even if it is as flat as a pancake! Its got a funny sense of humour and deliberately pulls waves out of its …(beep)… when you’re not looking!

There’s a bird with a yellow beak in here pretending to be a seagull.

When I called him out on it he turned around looking for the bird with the yellow beak!

Back on land, Steve and Karen are staying with the Marinans. Karen was waiting for Steve on the ocean side without realising he was swimming on the harbour side today! There were a few anxious moments!

Louise and Mike have known each other for many years! At the ripe old age of 15, Louise went to her friends party because her friend said her older brother (Mike) was bringing boys along! They bumped into each other again years later down here in Manly and today were reminiscing about schools their neighbourhood and the old days!

The bolderdashers!

Mke (right) swam all the way to North Steyne cos he missed the pipe turnoff! He is here for work and heads back to the UK in 3 days. This was his very first swim!

These three were up to no good! Its written all over their faces! 😆

Last but not least, Gunnar has been called up for Jury Duty and attends court tomorrow!  In addition to growing his beard for a 60s party, he wanted to keep it for his court appearance. He was explaining to Clare that he plans to turn up with bits of food in his beard and mutter ‘bring back the death sentence’ in the hope that he’s dismissed! Good luck Gunnar!

Swimmer of the Month

The Medibank Free+Active swimmer of the month of January is Rob O’Brien, who will receive a $100 Rebel voucher. Congratulations Rob!

Rob says, “I swim for general wellbeing & as a form of training for various outdoor events. Its also a great way to offset my enormous appetite! Getting into the water early, seeing the sunrise & stumbling across some interesting marine life is the perfect start to the day. The comradery of fellow B&B swimmers & meeting new people, makes it a fantastic group to be a part of. I’ll be spending my Rebel voucher on new speedy tyres & accessories for my bike!” Here’s Rob, on the right after successfully completing the Cole Classic.

    Lucy, a very entertaining blog.
I think it’s a tern, (not a turn), most likely an immature crested tern but not having much crest. It also looks like a common tern, except that the bill is not black.
There are many types of terns and a few are quite similar except for some small differences.
Good luck Gunnar. I hope it’s not a 20 week trial.
