A great day for deeper considerations and sleep in’s. However there is always the chance that the sun will come out and we will miss the “lets go” and regret it. Heaven forbid, so here we are, met by a drizzly start and a 1 metre East Nor East swell which on the surface seemed quite forgiving, though I did hear of goggle loss for a couple of people that got on the wrong end of a set. My title this morning is the name of a new song for the Sandy Bottoms which is kinda stuck in my ear so this is my attempt to shake it off to you.
Though we were a bit ahead of the normal kickoff, the sheds were quiet with the exception of our head of sound engineering Jim Hudson who has a real treat in the wings for everyone who has been pining for a new amplified sound system for the B&B.
The send off at 6:30 was a really quiet affair though wonderfully warm and reminiscent of a bath on a rainy day.
Today though it doesnt look like it we had 180 souls with 2 very brave newbies and a balmy 22.9 degrees.
On an alternate track this morning, we opted to chase the rainbow in a Ted triangle.
And here are our new friends getting their intro.
The first leg of the triangle was sensational. A light rain to dust us along.
And the first corner was probably not where Ted would have intended as we were slightly off course.
But the lady’s of the morning were not put off by the GPS failure and found happiness in being in the moment rather than the destination.
And for Ian, an underwater shot with at least some visibility. And to steal a line from the new song “Yellowtails and Silversun you best swim their way and watch them shine And watch them watch the morning come”
And then the heavens opened and a shaft of light helped guide the 7am fraternity.
And two boats this morning moored a fair way out.
And then we found Ted escorting a team to do the real triangle.
And meanwhile back at the ranch the storm clouds gathered while the sun beat down.
Then at breakfast we met David Stewart from the Butterfly Foundation who like our Sparkles is doing their best to help people with eating disorders. As you may know Michelle Sparkes is valiantly fighting to help so many young people stave off eating disorders. Hopefully, Michelle and David may form an alliance to really take the fight to this problem. https://michellesparkes.com/
Wishing you all well in your week. Spread some smiles and see you on the roundabout.

B & B Monthly Dinner– Are you swimming with Elasmobranchs?
The next B&B monthly dinner will be on Tuesday 11th April at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest speaker on the night will be Sian Liddy, a Marine Science student at the University of New South Wales, who will pose the question: are you swimming with Elasmobranchs?
Sian is looking for citizen scientists to engage with a research program she is running as part of an Internship with the Manly Environment Centre. The research aims to use non-invasive methods to assess elasmobranch biodiversity in the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. So come along to find out how you can be a part of this exciting new project.
The cost of the dinner is only $25 a head and includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please BOOK HERE NOW.
