Believe it or not this is perfect “swimming with whale weather”! Each whale visit has been on days like this, so a very good reason to get out of bed even though you really don’t want to!
As Mari, one of our swimmers, said this morning ” I was lying in bed thinking “no way” and now I am here, how did that happen??”
We even had a newbie, Michael! Pretty brave for this to be his first swim!

At Shelly: Dr John who is still yet to complete all his winter swims WITHOUT A WETSUIT has failed miserably! He was in disguise and being very quiet but the integrity police spotted him!! 🙂

I finally found out our lovely ‘regular’ British Bull dog – is called TUIAKI or TUI!! He was named after Tuiaki Taniela a rugby player… because… he looks like him! 🙂
Tui was also one of the answers on the Ball Triva Quiz! Name 5 of the dogs who are regulars in the morning? EASY! Tui, Billy, Chino (Licky Puppy), Rosie (who sits on the towel), Winston the other bull dog! 😀

I wondered if it would be worth the 52 km car ride this morning as it looked such a dreary day but I can honestly say it was! Beautiful, smooth, flat swim with just a few lovely waves at the start and finish and the sky put on another light show towards the end! Love your blog Lesley. I have been calling ‘Tui’ ‘Toohey’ after the beer for ages!

Not sure how you can question my integrity on the the Winter Challenge.
Every swim has been validated by Binnsy, even the ones where I ticked and didn’t turn up and it’s there to see on the computer and we all know that computers are machines and can’t lie!!!!

Absolutely worth getting out of bed for this morning!
It did feel much colder than the thermometer suggested – and there was me thinking that I was acclimatising….
Another great blog too. We re so lucky to have such a dedicated crew to document each days swims, meaning that we can either relive them later in the day or, for those that missed out, enjoy vicariously!

Watched a documentary on the flight from Syd on a sperm whale whisperer. Perhaps we should invite him over! Fascinating conversations he has with them, similar to your dolphin chats!
Also watched the collecting of whale poo released just before they dive. The poo was analysed – mostly squid.
