Well the Summer like conditions can’t go on forever otherwise it would get just plain boring, so today we had a little bit of training for the winter badges..
It’s going to be kinda rainy but not too cold for the weekend but we love it!
I passed Jane on the way out.. she just said, “As you can see, my young apprentice, your friends have failed. Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!”
Next Monday 2 June is a special screening event of the new adventure film “LAST PARADISE” by local Manly legend Barton Lynch. LAST PARADISE is the award inning story of extreme water adventure. It has taken 45 years to make and was completed at Peter Jacksons studios. Tony Elmore and a couple of “pink caps” have seen it and convinced it would have huge appeal to the whole pink caps group – including kids. It will be hosted by world surf champ Barton Lynch. I attach the event details. You can watch the trailer for a taste and reserve tickets at:

Winter Badge season kicks off 1 June – Onesie wearing is strongly encouraged..
You know you want one! There are 14 weeks in the winter season. To qualify for the prized Cold & Bold Badge you simply need to swim 20 times within the season ensuring you have swum in a minimum of 7 different weeks. So, attempting to do it all in the first few weeks does not count!!
Also on Sunday 1 June, to mark the first winter swim, we will be hosting our own Biggest Morning Tea after the swim at the benches. Funds from this morning tea will go to cancer research ‘cause you never know if you or someone you love will one day be a beneficiary of this work.

Staying safe
We have had seen the return of some serious waves and rips this past week! Were you prepared? Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

I think we’re hoping lots of swimmers will bring a plate of slices/cakes/cookies and we’ll just sell them to each other and help raise money for cancer research!

Back to Da Nang beach, Vietnam…. end of the trip, staying in a lovely resort for last 2 nts courtesy of our Vietnamese hosts…. perfect 10K conditions and saw a gigantic sting ray (about 3 x the largest one I’ve ever seen at CTB) and lots of beautiful jelly fish ….no stings!
