121 Bold & Beautiful swimmers
There’s no place for sleep-ins in Manly. Early mornings are the best part of the day !

Everyone’s lovin’ it and thankfully the ocean’s big enough for everyone to play in.

We are so lucky to have this beautiful, peaceful little protected corner of the world to wake up to and enjoy every single morning.
Every morning holds something different, but the fundamentals are the same. Fun, fitness and friendship. You find it all in pink 🙂

8 swimmers got up extra early to enjoy Bolderdash, including Aly, Elaine DJ and Retha who were just a touch excited to have completed their first one and as such have started their ascent towards that first column on the Pacific Challenge

Everyone seemed a little far away from me ‘at the point’ this morning… cough cough…

The water’s a warming !! It’s quite clear in the shallower areas now too. Still room for improvement across the middle though with patches of picturesque seaweed and non-stingy jelly blubbers.
Jalna’s swimming with her snorkel at the moment so doesn’t miss a trick of what’s happening underwater. Apparently there were lots of green gropers cruising the bay this morning, but not a blue in sight.
Jeff wasn’t the only swimmer who travelled all the way from Paddington to enjoy this morning’s delights…

Linda from Manly Mac Art and I are working on the 2013 B&B calendar this week, so if you have any photos that you would like to see featured in the calendar, please send them through to me today !! No promises but if you don’t share them they definitely won’t be in there 😉
As always, today was another great swim in the best company 🙂

Don’t miss out. Come on down ! Whatever it takes for you to be able to keep yourself safe and join in is fine by us. So that’s it, if you can swim there’s no excuse. See you all tomorrow 🙂

~12 swimmers also enjoyed an early lap into Shelly and 6 stretched out for a double after the main swim.
Mark A asked as we were walking to brekkie this morning if we could accommodate the Boldercrawl into the Bolderdash 😉 You can crawl, sprint, snorkel, whatever takes your fancy. If you’re worried about the pace or the distance just start a little earlier, or turn a little short. It is a 3km swim, so build up slowly and pick your conditions to start, but do come and join in (as with all our swims though, at your own risk). 5.50am in the water, back in time to join in with the Shelly swim too if you choose 🙂
Happy birthday to Pauline Forster today !
For all you budding Rottnest Channel Swimmers, be it solos, duos or teams, entries open on Monday 5th Nov for one week only !! There have been some changes to the requirements this year so make sure you check them all out on their website, here
Some great ‘name the swimmer’ shots just in from Simon:

Number 1 is just too easy to even mention… I reckon number 3 is Graham Sharp and number 4 is Liz Jones. Any further suggestions ??
Photo of brand new baby Charlie, born this morning. So small and adorable, you could carry him in his B&B cap, very cute 🙂 Congratulations and thank you for the photo xx

A message just in from Simon Hertfort, new Dad !!
“Charlie Simon Herfort arrived in the real world this morning. He
tipped the scales at 3.23kg (7lbs) and measured 48cm.
Mum and bub both doing exceptionally well.
In preparation for Charlie’s home coming I’ve already placed an order for his first mountain bike…”
Congratulations and welcome to the world Charlie 🙂
We’re here to help Simon, there’s one thing you don’t need to worry about… we already have Charlie’s pink togs and cap ready for him.

Loving my snorkeling, might drag this shoulder thing out for a while yet.
I’m swimming in the largest ( and prettiest ) hydrotherapy pool in the world, and am thinking of naming the stretch between the point and halfway the rehabilitation run.
There’s a few of us in there developing some interesting modified swimming styles to accommodate whichever body parts aren’t currently working.
So lucky to have these options!
PC…….can’t look now that Bolderdash has started, will just be content to look at all the fish instead 😉

Don’t forget it’s Halloween tomorrow !! Candy has requested a ‘scary swim’. Hope she doesn’t get what she’s asked for too literally. Come dressed up for the occasion if you choose 🙂

Hi Jalna,
Would love to join the rehab group what with currently not allowed to lift my arms out of the water I’m enjoying the benefit of using my snorkel and kicking my legs v fast!
I’m with you content to look at the fish or maybe we do a leisurely (v v slow) Balderdash at one point.

Sounds good Sharon, but a bit worried we’d have to start Bolderdash the night before the morning we intend to finish.
See you in rehab!

Hey Fifs, I won’t be doing the Boulder tomorrow so I won’t be entering the water at 5.45am. I hope it wont be too dark for my non swim. (just in case your not interested)
I dont think Mr S will be bouldering as well. 🙂

Yes!! I think all my brekkie bribing of Michael has brought its just reward….I’ve made it to the 1st column in spite of having the same score as Elaine and someone else. Now, just keep me there for the next month, Michael, and I promise you some crumbs on return:-)
Aly, Elaine & Retha, great pic! If we don’t see you before we leave on Thurs, we’ll be back very soon. Poor Retha being taken for an orange buoy!
Meanwhile, there’s an ‘official’, sight-seeing boldercrawl tomorrow at 5.45 in the water. RAINER and I will be there!!! If it’s rough, we can just do more sight-seeing and crawling…..
Simon H, Charlie & Mum, Congratulations! Pauline, Happy Birthday!

The buoy looked pink from the distance, we thought it was her pink B&B cap!! Good luck with your swim! And congratulations baby Charlie

Little Sarah! You went swimming behind my back! Whatever happened to ‘lets have a day’s rest after Monday’s bolderdash’???
See you tomorrow morning! Are we aiming for 7am or are you going to talk me into another bolderdash to further consolidate your column 1 position in the PC? 🙂

Hi SS & Fifi, I think I’ll do the boulderdash early to get headstart or I may sleep in and do the 7am at 6.15. I’ll be sure to wait for you both at the point either way. 🙂

I’ll soon be knocking you out of that first column Little Sarah as you’ll be in HK! Will miss you though as will lots of us. You are such a positive, kind and inspiring person, like lots of B&Bers…
The Bolderdash/crawl wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be and it really was magical swimming that early with the sun rising. Would recommend to everyone!
Congratulations Simon on little Charlie and Happy Birthday Pauline!
