30/10/17 – Sighting Paradise

30/10/20177

Have you noticed the more swims you do, the better you can accurately gauge a course to Shelley Beach?

At first you’re sighting every 10 strokes, then you get down to sighting a dozen times, then 6, maybe even less. After a while it doesn’t even matter if it’s rough or those cross currents are scooping into the bay. You get good at hitting the mark. What was once difficult becomes worth it and somewhere in the doing you find your paradise.

Shelley Beach never moves, which simplifies things significantly, as we’re setting our sights on the same overall goal every morning.

If only the rest of the day was the same, constantly aiming at something timeless, like the highest possible good you can conceive. Then heading for it earnestly, with love.

Knowing that, although currents and rough patches will conspire to knock you off course, with consistency of effort you will find yourself in a paradise of your own doing.

Um no, I don’t know why but sometimes I pretty much swim in a straight line and sometimes I’m all over the place, pretty much swimming into walls. Wha hey, unpredictable is good
