What a fantastic start to the morning. With it being so dark when you get out of bed to make it to the water, you never know what the weather is going to be like when you get there.
The waves looked big on occasion but if you timed it in between sets you could make it out between the waves when the water was calm.
I found these lovely men hanging around before the swim. Rchard’s looking happy to see me.
Jane Stevenson getting Storchy to show us what he is made of. Doesn’t quite look how I imagined the man of steel to look.
We had an Olympic Swimming Champion swim with us today. Shane Gould, who is a Gold Medal champion taking home 5 Gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze medal. Shane is the only swimmer in history to hold all freestyle world records in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and the 200m individual Medley at the same time.
Shane was just 15 years old when she competed in the 1972 Muich Games. She swam 12 races in 8 days, totally 4.2km of competitive swimming in the process.
She has continued swimming throughout her career and in 2003 she received a World Masters Record for the 45-49yrs 200im Swim Category.

It was a high tide this morning so you had a good extra 50 meters of swimming. From this pic it looks like there were hardly any waves but they did sporaticaly appear out of nowhere.

Nothing like catching up on your way in. That’s what we love about the group. Everyone is so friendly.
Love the colours of the water at the sun shines through.

It was Sterling and Lachlan’s birthday today. Happy Birthday to you both.

Looks like there is some more hugs being given out at Shelly. Can you guess who?

There wasn’t alot to see in the waters this morning but there were plenty of Yellow Tail and small fish.

The sand looked amazing this morning on the way into Manly

I found this little guy trying to bury himself into the sand. You can’t hide from me.

This is a first for me. Champagne was being served at breakfast this morning. Celebrations were being had all round for Sterling’s Birthday. Hope you have a good day Sterling. Notice the Drinks waitress having a little sneaky drink.

Get your diarys out because THE Bold and Beautiful Quiz Night is coming to town!!
In order to make sure Bold and Beautiful remains the FREE, wonderful, inclusive activity that it currently is for everyone, everyday, we need to have one or two fundraising events each year.
On Tuesday 6th May we will be having our main fundraising event for this year, which will be a Trivia Night at the Steyne Hotel, with our very own quizmaster, John Kelly.
To make this event a huge success, we need donations of items that we can use as team prizes, auction items or raffle prizes. Any goods or services will be most gratefully received, and the funds raised will go towards the running costs for ourgreat swim squad.
This year we will be joined by the Royal Far West who will be assisting in fundraising for the event, and will receive part of the funds raised on the night.
Please contact Ian (0142 331530 or ugoboyo@gmail.com ) if you are able to donate something of value.
Almost 50% of swimmers are now using the B&B i-Log. Log your swim ANYTIME of day using this really efficient and easy way to ensure your swim is recorded in the daily attendance and on the Pacific Challenge. To get started, send an email to Ian Forster – his email address is: (PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THIS EMAIL INTO YOUR EMAIL, DO NOT CLICK on it)

He will check that your email address is activated on the attendance register then send you info on how to get started.

Lovely Blog Snorkles, and great to see some fishes – I hardly saw anything! I was very impressed to see you diving very deep to snap a Fiddler Ray – what happened to that pic?

I have two pressing swimming etiquette questions to run past Dr Rainer and Prof Nick in readiness for Tuesday night’s dinner;
1.At that slightly awkward moment when you see someone at B&B after not seeing them for a while or you just generally can’t remember their name, is it correct etiquette to just call them John or Anne to be on the safe side?
2.At that slightly CONFUSING moment when one bumps into a fellow swimmer around Manly in their civvies and with their hair done, is it appropriate to say “I didn’t recognise you with your clothes on”? I know this line is popular but I’d be keen to hear your take on it.

Two excellent questions Anna. I can assure you both scenarios will be covered at the seminar next Tuesday.
Great blog Renae. Beautiful conditions at the moment!

Great blog Renae – really captured the beauty of the swim this morning.
I also have a rather delicate question on etiquette to ask Dr Lips and Prof Nick. Given the rather cold and damp conditions in the public changing rooms, I can totally get the current trend for changing in the great outdoors. It’s always slightly disturbing, however, when one gets a cheeky flash from a fellow swimmer whom you might not know so well. How does one handle such an occurrence? Is it rude to stare and point, or should one just discreetly look the other way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

A pressing question for the Dr/Prof:
If you are swimming along, and quite by accident you collide with a member of the opposite gender and inadvertently touch her squishy bits. Do you:
1. Apologize profusely
2. Pretend it didn’t happen
3. Stop and say “Gosh the jellyfish are big this year”.
