Whales whales and more whales…. Only joking Jules – they wouldnt dare turn up without you.
27 brave souls ticked strangely no newbies, Maybe they heard Linda was in charge this week?
As predicted, as soon as Jules leaves Manly the seas rise and the waves roll in. A few people swam to Shelly and Back, some even went both ways but most of the sensible ones took the half way option. The waves really were rolling in today, comment of the day goes to Bruce B. ” I unfortunately started to get a lack of breath between the sets” oh dear!
Fact of the day time – This one is for Iain McGregor: The first man to swim the English Channel was Captain Matthew Webb (21 hours and 45 minutes) He later died trying to swim the rapids above Niagara Falls. (derrrrrr)
Water Temperature – warmer than yesterday.
Air Temperature – cold .
Sunrise 6.32am.
Sunset 5.26pm.
High Tide: 10.55am.
Low Tide: 4.56pm.
*disclaimer – Tim takes no responsibility for the accuracy of todays blog details as he didn’t actually swim and is going by what Linda told him – always a mistake
A note from Neil:
Dear B&B community, I find myself in the uncomfortable temporary situation of being broke in this lovely area of Manly and having to relocate as the owner of this unit is selling after me being here for 10 years. I work in the area of Financial Services and tutoring however this work has come to a halt. I am also a qualified Safety Advisor and Site Forman. My initial aim is to obtain any type of part/full time work. I may also need a home for my herb pot plants. If you know of anybody who has employment or temporary accommodation for a man with a splendid attendance record please call Neil on 0414686646 or email Jules

It was very hard to get out through the break today. It was one step forward, two back. It was like the old joke about why are you hitting yourself on the head with a stick? Because it’s good when it stops. Stil on an adrenaline high .

Dover Report,
Hi all apologies that I was out of contact yesterday.
The good news is that Dr Richard Davies has arrived with me in Dover and we are now staying at Varne-Ridge holiday park the unofficial channel swimming accommodation center.
I had a lovely slow 1 hour swim in Dover harbor yesterday with Stuart Johnson who swam with B&B in summer and trained with me at Balmoral.
After our swim the soon to attempt channel swimmers and old legends of the channel all came down for their own preparations. Great bunch of people from South Africa, USA, Canada, Japan, UK and Spain.
I’m currently trying to get some better photos of the coast of France, Cape Grez to Calais which is visible from the cliffs of Dover during most days and looks great at night when all the lights can be seen.
Thanks again for your ongoing support, I’m currently hoping to do this swim Monday if the weather permits.
For those of you who like to count your stroke I’m estimating 40,000 to 50,000 strokes should see me to French shores.
Update soon.
Iain

This is not a joke: Walked the dog along the ocean just after 5pm, and a Southern Right was frollicking about half a km from the beach, possibly just outside of the Reserve.
I got Dave Thomas on to it, who in turn contacted Channel 7 News, who in turn got the chopper over and followed the whale as it swam away.
Some surf ski paddlers were out earlier and they had seen one dead whale and another trying to rescue his dead mate. EcoDiver Dave at this point recommends we check the 7 News to find out what they could see from their vantage angle.

tip 2 – lard
I know you will smear it over your body. But what about down there? Yes – there? I would pack it in. This has 2 advantages 1. will impress the French chicks; 2. will scare the jelly fish…..and your mom and dad.

So many jokes I can lead off that one Roberto but I think i would be at risk of suspending my blogging rights.
