The
daily return ocean swim between Manly and Shelly beaches has the
potential for danger. “I don’t want to hear how beautiful it is. We need
to hear more about the dangers lurking in the deep so we don’t attract
any more newbies” reported a B&B regular Attracta. So today’s blog
comes in the interests of public safety.
Bluebottles. Treatment : ice, adrenaline or take profolactic action and swim in the harbour.

Dusky Whalers – treatment : shoot with camera if you can but they seem more scared of us.

Rough surf. Solution : swim from half way beach
Tsunamis. Solution : nil
Did
you know Sydney has been hit by six catastrophic Tsunamis in the last
10,000 years and it could happen again? The last one was a 60 m wave in
1491. According to Dr Ted Bryant if it happened today it would look like
this:

http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/journal/australia-earthquake-threat.htm
Often, a tsunami isn’t a single wave but a series of waves. Since 2009 the Bold and Beautiful Tsunami has created a continuous series of waves including:
of 40 to 600 pink capped ocean swimmers arriving regularly at 7am every
day. Last Thursday (ANZAC Day) the pink Tsunami was over 500 pink caps
strong

Waves of 6.30am swimmers
Waves of Bolderdashers. The giant said ” call me Rob and look after my gear”.
Waves of characters
Waves of families
Waves of fish

Talk about suspense ! 😉
Great blog Simon, very original, great read and lovely photos, well done. Not sure you’ll have much luck stopping the Tsunami though, it’s got a lot of momentum behind it now 🙂

Thanks for the reminder – now we’re committed!
Yes, plenty of sunrise ooh and ahh breaks, Lips’ jokes, Wilf’s iron-man training tips, coffee breaks (byo along with a CAMERA) and just maybe, a chance to swim with Jon’s birthday presie – the orange stuff bag/safety device.
Anyone is welcome to put their iphone in it and call home along the way!
