Cabbage Tree Bay put on a stunning display of warm (20.1 deg), flat, glittery water together with blue, sunny skies and warm outside temperatures today – wonderfully fitting conditions to honour B&B legend, Ian Forster, our fearless and tireless leader! Congratulations on your 4000kms!
For most part of the life of the B&B, Ian has volunteered his time to manage this brilliant bunch of swimmers, at the same time quietly clocking up his 4000kms, to date of which only a handful of swimmers have achieved.
What is most remarkable about this story of Ian achieving his 4000, not only does he never miss a day’s swimming despite the conditions – treacherous or calm (unless of course he is taking a well deserved holiday with HRH) he ALWAYS has a smile on his face!
But as the saying goes, and, as is definitely true in this case, behind every great man, is a ‘bloody beaut’ woman!! This achievement can be safely attributed to Pauline too as she is also down at the swim rain, hail or shine, walking with Ian and taking photos and giving the rest of us updates on conditions so we can choose whether to roll over or jump out of bed!! 😄
Speaking of great women, Jen Lyle, a long time B&B swimmer, clocked up 3000kms today!! A huge congratulations to Jen on behalf of all of us. What is tricky about swimming at different times currently, is that we don’t all hear about people’s achievements or know when they are about to finish their swim, but luckily this photo was snapped and sent to us just in time!
Photos by Anne Henshaw showing the beautiful conditions which blessed the B&B for Ian’s 4000 and Jen’s 3000!
Last but not least, the Barney Mullins swim was cancelled and lucky for some, the great colourful swim caps were given away! We can safely say that one person missed out on a cap, hey Shelley?! 😆
Have a great week.
Lucy

The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 11th May at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our speaker for the night is a regular B&B swimmer whose identity will remain a mystery until the night. From his position as a high flying international corporate executive, we will follow his journey to homelessness as a result of a declining mental health. We are all touched by mental health issues, whether in ourselves, family and friends or just those we see on the streets of Manly. This really is a tale of courage and perseverance. You probably see our speaker most mornings at the beach and would never guess how important this morning ritual of exercise, friendship and community involvement has contributed to his recovery and ongoing happiness.
The cost of the dinner is great value at only $30 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each (please note, NO BYO). Bookings are essential, so to avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book at www.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-bluewater-monthly-dinner.html
