Hi and welcome to another day of blogging from Me.

First
of all apologies to all the people who fell for last weeks little joke
about Mr Jackman and got a little bit too excited. Apparently some
ladies went out, got waxed and bought new cossies and left their husbands a Dear John letter in preparation for his
visit!  It did get several people ‘good and proper’ though, I’ll
mention no names.

Anyhow, onto this weeks
blog. I’m on Patrol today with the famous Nick The Brick and his faithful team of red & yellows so I’m afraid this is going to be the worlds
fastest blog.

Lets start off with some shark action.

Welcome
to all the new swimmers and welcome to all the wanna be swimmers that
read the blog but haven’t taken the plunge to join in on a swim yet…
you know who you are. Stop putting it off and get yourself down the
beach at 7am tomorrow.

It was a nice morning…..NOT. It looked like an English Summers day at the club this morning. Wet, Wet and wet. The turnout was pretty poor to be honest. Even I turned up!

look at all the happy faces!

Carol & her friend Ari from Brazil- 1st time B&B swimmers

I dont know what to say about this one. Lesley drinking from the run off from the storm water pipe at halfway.Someone please buy her a coffee.

Lori doing her bit for the fishes – collecting plastic bags.

Lots of post Australia Day li-lo and floaties about this morning. Lesley & Co made good use of them on the swim back.

I
haven’t mentioned the sponsors for  a while, did you know that there
are several sponsors of B&B and most if not all offer some great
discounts to B&B card holder members. Check them all out here

And
don’t forget to swim within your ability, not beyond it. Most of the
time it’s flat but on those occasions its pumping you might want to
remember the basics… just incase you need them one day and remember there is no shame in raising your arm for help if your in trouble. Ive come close a few times myself. Read some water safety  tips here

I’d
also like to ask for your assistance in a non swim related issue. I’m
putting together a list of all the best food & drink deals in Manly.
(You know, the daily and weekly specials we all love.)

A few venues are already listed but if you know of any genuine daily special offers please let me know by submitting them here: www.todayinmanly.com.au
Or
if you know a business owner who offers ‘Food or Drink specials’ please
feel free to forward it onto them. Its a free listing afterall!

Thanks

Free TV?
For all the Pommie swimmers who miss watching UK TV.

On
this day in history: 27th January, 1926 John Logie Baird, gave the
first public demonstration of a television system in London. …Fast
forward 87 or so years….Heres one for those that love ‘free’ tv and
films. HOLA have just released a plugin for your computer/browser that
lets you watch overseas TV in Australia ( that is normally only
accessible it the UK or USA)  Check it out here: Watch your fave USA and UK progs for free! BBC iplayer, ITV player , Hulu etc.  Nice eh!

    Top blog Tim.
Leslie I had some extra $ this morning, happy to lend you the cost of a coffee, anytime. Don’t be shy ask next time.
Agree with Alyson, great reading the blog at breakie.
Would it be possible to ask if all bloggers could submit their blogs and images the day before the actual swim and then we could all read them at breakie at the Bluewater?

Great blog Tim. In fact the first blog not to make me home sick. It’s 34 degrees here. Rain ! What’s that ?? Oh that’s the wet stuff that falls from those fluffy things in the sky, we don’t seem to have those here 🙂 Beautiful calm seas here, a great morning for a swim. You must come and visit some time 🙂

Well done Tim, whistling people into the flags whilst writing the blog. usually multitasking is for ladies…Hmmmmm…For those that wonder why I had a strap on, (Jane) is a GPS and heart monitor , it showed 1.51km swim this morn, though I did get hit the waves off the bower! Goggles had fogged up.. thanks to the B&B patrol for making a miserable day to patrol, into one with lots of fun and cakes….

    Awesome blogging Tim.
Not sure that it was the weather keeping people in bed this morning. Some serious Straya Day hangovers might have taken a toll…….

    Hello Me,
Was that an invitation or a threat (to block me from the blog)?
I’m very busy at the moment with serious physical and psychological training for the Sydney Skinny, as well as ensuring I’m ‘ good and proper ‘. No time for frivolous activities. Especially with Hugh being a hoax!
I may consider it after then. In the meantime I’ll just follow the blog the way I used to follow Days of Our Lives in Uni days, skipping lectures to be home by 1.30pm. ( Never was a fan of that other Bold and Beautiful ).

    Nice work Tim!
And hats off to those 44 brave souls who swam today. There should be badges for mornings like this!
Anyone up for Bolderdash tomorrow? 😉

Thankyou B&B Wannabe for enlightening me about a Bondi cigar. Still not sure what a Dunny Budgie is though – something similar I suspect, but why a Budgie?

Great blog Tim! Loved the swim this morning except the 2 blueys. Going halfway is always a bit of an adventure.

Had to take a break today. As tempting as it looked this morning.
Should be even more fun tomorrow with heavy rain and strong NE winds forecast. Can’t wait. Hope the blogger shows up for duty. He’s known to be a bit of a fair weather swimmer..

    No worries.
Crikey! You must know what a dunny budgie is! You definintely would have encountered some!
    Have a squizz at this.
    Now yous know:
    dunny = toilet
    budgie = australian bird (that’flies’)
(some people keep them as pets you see)
So put em together and you have our old friend the blowfly.
Now go out and swat some dunny budgies!

Don’t be so modest Mr Drinky. Some people that would have been fit enough to brave the swell at Manly were off braving some hairy swell at Big Swim Palmie to Whale, including your good self, well done for getting out through that surf. Also well done to those that turned up in the rain and had a go, and / or stayed to make sure their friends finished safely.

Forgot to mention when times are good budgies get together in BIG numbers.
    Get what I mean ;+)
