27/10/15 Surprisingly Smooth (after yesterday’s washing machine)

27/10/20154

As you can see there was nearly a ripple today. Amazing how the conditions change overnight.

As you can see it was a bit chilly this morning, a few more wetsuits around. Notice Peter in his summer wardrobe. Air temp was 17 degrees and water was down to 19.3 degrees.

Bruce in his cool water attire.

Fun at shelly, notice all the shoulders in the water….

We had 110 swimmers and 1 newbie.

The chilly weather cleared the “benches” – nobody braved the cold, they could be found at BlueWater enjoying the B&B special. We had at least 4 tables of B&B’ers today.

The swim was definitely worth it, as always. A great way to start the day,  get wet, enjoy the refreshing experience and the fantastic energy of everyone.

Have a lovely day!

Jenny :))

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. It certainly was a gorgeous swim and worth coming down for despite gloomy skies and a chilly little wind. And I got stung – paw paw cream, then my old mate, Savlon, plus panadol and an anti-histamine has helped so it’s no longer enraged and blistery at least. Some interesting tips were doing the rounds in the apres swim chatter in the change rooms… wondering what will happen next… and what are the tips that people have?
    Jimbled Jen.

Congrats! I heard you were nominated many times but it was yesterday’s photo that clinched it.
    Great blog Jenny!

Heard a woman who is head of the Aust stinger research group on radio saying best thing for jimbles and blueys is a thorough washing with salt water BEFORE anything else as only salt water will remove the stingers. Then apply hot water or ice to minimise pain.
