27/09/2014 – Stunning Saturday Swim!

27/09/20146

Over 200 pink capped swimmers plunged into 18.4 degree water this morning to start off the weekend in the best possible way. Megan summed up what she loves about this swim later to me in Havana Bar. ‘It puts me in a great mood for the rest of the day. I’ve just swam my 5th swim and am addicted. Everyone is so positive and happy!’ Lovely Elizabeth’s birthday today. We know she feels the same way. She’s barely missed a swim since she started about 18 months ago!

It was such a beautiful, sunny morning…no wonder The Drinks Express had over 30 swimmers at 6.30am. Here they are at Shelly Beach enjoying the over 18 degree water!

Mirek brings along a friend for her first B&B swim. She’ll be wearing a pink cap before long…

Back at The Surf Club hordes of 7am swimmers get ready. Fifi has just finished her swim with ‘The Frosty Nuts’ (another group of ealy, fast B&Bers!) Our famous photo bomber Lips, is in Germany, so she gets some blog tarting in and shows us her lovely cleavage (and tonsils!)

She also shows us how she swam in synch with her swim buddy today.

These guys fit in a swim with us as part of Saturday morning triathlon training. Our group has all sorts and must be the most inclusive and friendliest around!

It’s Lisa and hubby’s first swim today. They have just moved from the UK and are loving Manly!

I’m thrilled to see 14 year old Teagan again, who I taught in Year one at Manly West. We swim together Saturdays from Spring – Autumn.

John Kelly can’t grumble at me today. I didn’t wear a wettie and it felt really good!

Henrietta’s quite a regular now. She writes the ‘Friends of Cabbage Tree Bay’ newsletters.

Gaby’s daughter comes along for a swim and the water is clear enough for an underwater shot at The Point!

Visibility much better around the rocks and I see my old favourites, the ‘old wives’.

Chris with his even more handsome son at Shelly Beach. The 2 most eligible bachelors around 😉 and more happy swimmers…

Robert celebrated his 76th birthday yesterday and we sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him along with Elizabeth at Shelly, giving the Bower Street residents their Saturday morning wake up call!

Then, as is the custom our birthday swimmers give the ‘Let’s Go’ and we go!

A few Port Jackson sharks around at the moment…

and gropers…

Two of our most regular and friendly swimmers who have been swimming almost since the B&B started, Anna and Jalna. Both agree this swim has been life changing for them.

Home-made, open air showers

Katrina didn’t actually swim today but I had to include this, doesn’t she look gorgeous?

Iain and his mates.

Blue Snapper took this on Thursday with a drone showing us swimming back with Bishop Tim in front!

Post-swim endorphins are flowing! Have a great weekend folks!

Wow Elaine! Excellent blog – I love all the photos (especially my goggles making me look extra weird at Shelly; must be the angle) and nice to see one from the sky. I think having a swim to start the day is really the best. And a blog by Elaine, well that caps it off.
